Question Expedition Console?

Some members describe their console as the "Expedition" Console. Is this the standard Console that is included with the "Captains Chairs" or is this a factory, dealer, option or is this a "Replacement" as in an actual Expedition console refit?

It is an actual Expedition console installed in my F-150. Check out my site in my signature.

Are the lids the same on the Supercrew Console and Expy Consoles?

Tim56Ford,

I found this site with pics of the SuperCrew with the console installed: http://hometown.aol.com/washyourcar/supercrew.html

I believe that the SuperCrew came with the same center console that was in my SuperCab and the lids are different. The Expy one is a little narrower.

Here it is in my truck:

Cool

Thanks to BlueFlareside's postings (most notably the Supercrew/ Baby Pictures thread) I purchased a 98/99 Expy center console from LWM in Norman OK (405-360-7998). Cost was $89.00 plus shipping. Installation was relatively easy. LWM included two adapter/ mounting brackets that attach to the Expy console and allow you to use the Super Crew bolts. With the 98/99 center console, the Super Crew captain's chair arm rests are fully functional. A note for those with a six disc Cd changer mounted in the center console: I had to order a Cd changer insert mount for the 98/99 console from my Ford dealer - - cost about $24.00. Also had to drill a new hole (lower than the existing hole) to run the cable to the CD changer. Pictures follow. By the way. The highlight trim on the console is a little darker than the 2001 contrast trim... no one else has noticed until I mentioned it to them. As you look at the attached photo's it's pretty hard to see any difference.

Has anyone figured out a way to use an Expy console with the rear a/c feature on the Supercrew yet? The consoles shown lack this feature.......

FedExPilot:

Glad that I could help out a fellow member. "97CustomXLT" was the one who originally gave me the name to order from so thank him also. It looks great in your truck!! I have added links to threads from this board on the Expy. console on my page in my signature.

Glad you liked the baby pictures, too.

tlister:
I have not fone anything with the back hole in the console but some rear air vents for you guys with SuperCrews would be a great idea! I am sure you could order the vents and controls from Ford. I thought that they would come with the console but I guess LWM uses the original ducts and controls in any new console that people put in an Expy.

Does anyone knows if the gray interior of the 98/99 Expeditions is the same color of the gray SuperCrew ? I'm thinking of a console swap.

Question

The console itself looks about the same size(hard to tell from the pictures)of the current SCrew console. Is the only difference the front of the console where it extends to just under the dash?

ALWYS8:
The Expy console lid/ body are more narrow than the Screw console. The Expy also appears to sit a little higher up, between the armrests. The drink holders are different as well. The SCrew holds a bigger cup/ coler with the rubber insert removed - - the rubber inserts are not interchangable.

Has anyone put one of thes in a Screw with cloth seats. Appearantly the lids are a cushined vinyl and I was wondering how well that worked with the cloth seats. From the pics I've seen so far eveyones interior seem to be leather......... Hard for me to tell.

Also what is this LWM shop?

Thanks

LNG,

I have an Expy with cloth captains seats and the console that everyone is putting in their SCrew. The console is the same in the Expy, leather or cloth. It looks great. I think it would look exactly the same in a SCrew with cloth as it does in an Expy.

Question

OKCrew,

How does that sub sound? I was going to put an Expedition console in, but I expect that Clarion will come out with a camouflage sub specifically designed for a SCrew. In which case, it would not fit due to the Expy console. Do you have pictures? I think I remember you talking about this before. I have given up trying to stuff two 8" subs under the rear seat. I want to be able to fold down the seat. I am waiting to see if the Clarion sub materializes.

ALWYSL8,

I wish I could tell you but I have not put it in yet. I have a few warranty things going on and want to get that all settled before I put it and the door speakers in.

BTW, I saw your pictures of your truck. Looks great!!! The ARE lid with spoiler looks real sharp.

I'll let you know as soon as I get the audio stuff done.

Does anyone have a definitive answer on whether a 2000 expy console will fit in a SCrew without removing the arm rests? Or do I have to get a 99 version? Thanks..
