Cool A.R.E. LSII = Good Gas Mileage?

I just had my new A.R.E. LSII hard tonneau cover installed on my Harvest Gold SCrew. I also paid the extra money and got the sport wing on the back. It is an awfully nice looking lid. I took a 355 mile ride today and had half a dozen people give me a thumbs up on the highway. I do know it was not due to my stunning good looks. I also know that it seems to have increased my gas mileage some. I went 355 miles, 85% highway, and was able to get the ever elusive EPA highway mileage rating. I have a 5.4, had the sunroof closed, no ac on, was going between 65-75 mph, and got 17.1 mpg. My wife could not understand my excitement. I now have 1100 miles on it and know better than to hope for the mileage to go up. I just hope it doesn't go down to much. The lid also helped smooth out the ride. If I can ever learn how to add a picture to my post, I will get one on here.

Cool

Sorry that you cannot post a picture, but we are very interested in how your truck looks. If you could please send them to my email address. I can't wait to see our truck (ordered harvest gold, but this was changed to arizona beige)

Thanx,
Robert.

I got quoted $670.00 painted and installed for the ARE LSII cover. Sound like a good price?

The last time I bought for a pickup, I paid $595. for a Full size cap with front slider. That'll tell you how long it's been.

I found the receipt. I paid, with tax, $1029.00 for the color matched LSII, sport wing, and liner - installed

I just ordered a S-Crew Lariat. they said it would be about 8-12 weeks for delivery. When should I contact an A.R.E. dealer to order my cover? Truck is Oxford White over silver. Would a silver top to match the two tone look OK? Thanks

Vesjas,
The local ARE dealer told this last Saturday that ARE had put out a factory advisory to their dealers. I warned of an approximate 6 week lead time due to the "overwhelming demand" for SCrew lids. Price here in AL without the wing is $699.00. The wing adds another $200.00.

Vesjas, Personally, I like the lid the same color as the truck, not the accent color. I think it just looks cleaner. I do know though that I did not get a perfect color match to my Harvest Gold (I have given up on a perfect match to gold.). Going with the lid matched to the accent color would probably make the match a mute point. The two are far enough away from each other to make a slight color variation unnoticable. I guess it's to each their own. Try getting a picture of a White S-Crew and then cutting out silver and white pieces of paper to simulate the LSII. That should help you make your decision. Good Luck. It did take me six weeks to get mine, and that was two-weeks ago.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the input (DIRVIN and ALWYSL8) I will put my order in about 6 weeks early. For now I think I will still go with the Silver Graphite to match the accent color. Thanks again.
