Question Bench Seat or Captains Chairs?

I am planning on buying a Super Crew in the next few months and need some advice. I am wanting an XLT 4x4 and was wondering if the bench seat is uncomfortable on long trips or not. I like the looks of the captains chairs, so I may just go with them. Does anyone have any complaints about either?

Thanks.

My bench seat is very comfortable, even on long trips. The captains chairs that I sat in felt comfortable as well, but the armrest felt as though it would get very sloppy, very quickly. But that may have been just that truck and not representative of all captains chairs. It's your $490 bucks though... it boils down to "Do I want the center console... or not??"

KansasCrew,

the center position of the front bench isn't the most comfortable seat for a long trip but is fine for most. We needed all the seating we could get for the six of us. Other than the one spot the seating is very cushy.

Bench seat all the way for me. Just couldn't see buying a truck if my girl couldn't slide over and sit right beside me. Nuff said on that. Plus, the extra spot for a middle passesger was a "free" bonus. Good luck.

Really enjoying the captains chairs. The arm rests are great and have not had any sagging (like reported on the bench)or quality issues.Dont know what I'd do with out the center console. Also, only with the captains do you get the fold down rear arm rest/cup holders...food for thought.

Cool

The real decision on whether to go w/ the captain's chairs depends on whether you'll opt for 6-CD changer. The bench seats would put the changer in the compartment behind the backseat on passenger side. With captain's chairs, it's is in console. More accessible. I will admit that armrests could have been a tad longer, but am still pleased I with what I got.

I opted for the bench over the captains. I have the captains in my 97' Expy but in it I have seating for 8. With the Screw I found the extra seat out-weighed the convenience of the CD changer in the console.

You do get cupholders with the bench. They foldown from the rear of the center of the front bench. I prefer this over them being in a foldown center console in the rear. I have the foldown center console in the Expy but we don't use it. It would be a mess if the kids used it. I find the bench rear cupholders much more useful and convenient.

Now, if the front console for the SCrew captains was an Expy console, it would have been a harder decision. Many captains seat owners are swapping to Expy consoles. Search the posts for more info.
