Post New Supercrew!

Well, I took the plunge and bought a new 2001 Supercrew. My lease on my 1998 F-250 light duty was coming due soon and I was seriously thinking of buying it at the end of the lease, but thought I'd see what all the fuss was about so I went and drove a Supercrew and I was sold. I'm fortunate to have a close friend who owns a large dealership and he always sells me my trucks $500 less than invoice (and I still think he makes money off the deal somehow). I got a Wedgewood blue/harvest gold two tone Lariat 4x4 with every factory option except cab steps and the bed extender (which I really wanted but none of the vehicles on the lot had it). I added a herculiner yesterday - major pain in the *** to prep the truck, but it looks great and I couldn't afford another Line-x after my new purchase. I love the way the truck drives - much better ride than my old truck and I can appreciate the upgrade to 260 horsepower in the 5.4. I've already added Mobil 1, and I'm sure I'll superchip again if I can sell my old superchip (see classifieds if interested). Anyway - I'm glad to have a new topic to browse now on the webpage. Thanks to all of you who have posted helpful information - I need to look up that "home remedy" for the moonroof noise - it was pretty loud when I had it open on the freeway yesterday!

Jtray.

You are very correct to assume that the dealer made money on the deal. They get a 3% commision holdback paid to them from the manufacturer based on the invoice price of the vehicle. This money goes to pay for the overhead of the dealership and offsets the cost of having the vehicle in the dealership. So on average, he is making around $1000 on your vehicle...he aslo may be getting an additional 1.5% from the manufacturer if the dealersip is "Blue Oval Certified". By selling to you for $500 under invoice, he is still padding his pockets.

Check out Edmunds.com for a better explanation.

Congrats on your purchase!...I only wish my dealer had one equipped the way I wanted on the lot....still waiting for mine to be built.

Welcome to the SuperCrew forum... Yes, your dealer\friend made a few bucks but yours is still the best deal I've read. Especially without having to order and wait and wait and wait. Congratulations!!!

I too have the Deep Wedgewood\Harvest Gold combination (I paid dealer cost on an order). I get plenty of remarks on it as I'm sure you will too.

I did it too. I broke down and bought one. I had a 2000 f-150 supercab and every time I saw a Supercrew I just loved it. I work at a dealership and I was able to trade out of my 2000 and get the supercrew. I got a $500 rebate for going from one lease to another. Also got $500 for being a dealership employee. I love it> wedgewood blue w/silver two tone accent > 5.4l > captains chairs > sliding rear window > cd changer > cab steps. I added a Line-x bedliner. Our body shop is now doing them and I got a great cost $225. I plan on ordering my bed extender soon. I also want to get a billet grille to add to it. These trucks are just awesome. We are selling them like crazy. I just love it.
