Ordered 01 Supercrew...good price?
I finally ordered a 01 Supercrew lariat, Oxford White,4x4,5.4, med graph leather cpts chairs, slider, cd changer, tow package, bed extender, cab steps and I got them to swap the Lariat rims for the Xlt 10 spokes!! Paid 30800, is that a good price? Seems as if it is less than 100 below invoice.I had originally figured a lower invoice, but the prices seem to have risen recently. Is that true or is the guy just jacking it up to make more money? Whats with the advertising fee of 260 anyways?

The advertising fee, along with all the other fees, is a bogus way for dealers to get more money out of you.
You are only required to pay for destination and a title transfer fee (usually $40, and gets you a temp lisc plate). Everything else is complete bull crapola.
You are not even required to pay the dealer sales tax or tag fees. You can go down to the DMV and pay those. The dealer wants you to him for those so he can add more fees, or charge you a higher tax percentage.
When making an offer, its best to give the dealer your 'out the door' price. If you want, call the DMV and ask what your state's tax is (3.5% in VA) and what the tag fee is (usually around $30).
If you want, include those figures in your 'out the door' price. When signing the paperwork, all you need to do is make sure that the final number at the bottom of the paper is your 'out the door' price - minus your downpayment. All the numbers prior to it are not important (they could even be blank).
Sorry about the post. Dealers just **** me off. The whole industry is just a scam to squeeze more money of the customer. That's why they are suing Ford over selling direct. They dont want to cut out the middleman. They are the middleman.
Oh yeah, a hundred bucks over seems to be the average summer price. But if you include the fees ....

Yes it is the 4x4. The only fees that were on it was the ad fee of 260. Otherwise the price increase was the difference. I think it was about 80 over and if you ad the advertising fee, its a good price I hope?!
Yesterday, I ordered a 4x2 Lariat, moonroof, 6 CD, rear slider, tow pkg, ltd slip, deep blue/tan, cargo cage and the 5.4 V8. It came to $27,709.50, which icludes $690 destination charge and $130 advertising fee. The total price is $200 under invoice.
Yea, the $130 advertising may be added profit, but this price is $1,000 BETTER than anyone in Tampa or the 7 county area. No one here was willing to waive the advertising fee. In fact, some charged an additional "pre-delivery fee" of up to $398. Now that's BS, but the dealers say they are getting it.
It's worth it for me to go to Holly Hil SC to get it (my flight attendant sister can get me there for only $40). Call Mike Buckley at 803-496-3150. I got his number via edmunds.com and he came thru.

FDAF= "Ford Dealers Advertising Fund"
If you saw a legitimate invoice or a Vehicle Order Confirmation Sheet when you purchased your truck, you would notice a fee listed as "FDAF assessment" with a cost of anywhere from $155.00 and up, according to whatever advertising region you live or buy the truck in.
This is a fee that Ford collects back from EVERY truck sale to help pay the cost of them advertising to you. So basically you pay for every Ford commercial you choose or choose not to watch whether you like it or not :>(
If you buy based on invoice you'll also pay $19.50 for 10 gallons of gas.
In other words if you pay invoice, these costs are already added into the total and are non-negotiable. Anything they add above and beyond invoice is total profit or bull**** depending on which way you look at it. Vehicle prep is also paid out of the destination and delivery fee($690) which is also non-negotiable.
If you buy for under invoice price, then basically the dealer takes a slight loss at the time of the sale until his quarterly holdback check shows up in his account. The salesman makes zilch or about $50.00 in this case. He gets nothing out of the dealer holdback. But at this point, that's not your problem. :> )

The dealers in this area were hanging on tight to any two wheel drives they could get, they had plenty of 4 wheelers on the lot. So I paid about $450 over invoice, but I didn't have any additional fees. I also had a $4000.00 rebate from Ford because of my wife's car,(3.8L Head Gasket) I paid the sales tax, (5.75%) traded-in my old truck, outright bought the bedliner, and I walked out the door at $19500. I might have been able to shave another buck or two, but with the extra jack from Ford, I didn't sweat the small stuff. The best part was the dealer that I had dealt with before had the the right color and equipment coming in, so I didn't even have to order it, I just waited an extra week. Six weeks old now and I love it!!!

Did everyone on this page buy their trucks flat out or did you have a trade-in????? Paying dealer invoice a 100 or two above or below invioce sounds good but did they steal your car on the trade? Enfield (CT) Ford wanted to give me $3,000.00 less for my trade (97 Merc Mountaineer) than Marcotte Ford (Holyoke, Ma). If I didn't Shop around they could have showed me the invoice and sold it $2,000.00 Under Invoice and still robbed me $1,000.00.
I got mine for $500.00 over invoice at both dealers... Guess who got my business!

I paid $100 over invoice on an ordered 4X4 in southern NH, no trade-in. Anything off the lot, slim pickins', was $750 over. Another local dealer in Haverhill MA wanted $1200-1500 over invoice for a vehicle off the lot.
