I'm a LINE-X dealer.
Bedrug is a nice alternative and a good choice for many people. But it, like other products, has it's limitations. Their warranty is lifetime but only covers defects in materials and workmanship. The only negative comments I have ever heard (and they are minor) are the following:
1. Only comes in gray.
2. Tends to sag a bit after a while.
3. Traps moisture between the rug and the bed.
4. You need to get used to looking at carpet in your bed.
5. Tailgate piece gives people problems.
6. Heavy duty use will tear the fibers.
Bedliners: All bedliner brands scuff the surface. The purpose is to provide a rough surface so that the bedliner product has something to grab onto. It's no big deal. The 80 to 125 mil bedliner provide much more protection than your 3-4 mil paint. After scuffing, the bed is cleaned with a solvent such as methanol or acetone. LINE-X is the only brand with a nationwide lifetime warranty. The warranty states, "...warranted not to crack, bubble, or flake." Now, those are mean't to be broad definitions because it's impossible to list every possible potential problem. For example, if it tears, it has cracked.
Here's LINE-X with LINE-X Xtra. It's also guaranteed not to fade or lose it's gloss. Notice that it's a darker black than regular LINE-X.

LINE-X exact non-fading color match:

Some of these things are still true .. but the product is now made from polyproplene resin,
no more sag problems
anywhere there air there is moisture, water will drain out O.E. drain holes and because it too is plastic like a hard liner or spray-on wont mold or mildew
BEDRUG will not scratch paint
and I replaced a Unit after 12 years of use ... Tell me anything there give you a new unit after 12 years of use, I'll get one .. cause I already own a BedRug LOL
Just F.Y.I.
Edit: you can also take you Bedrug OUT and put it in your next TRUCK! my next will be a 08 and a crew the bed will be the same and i can just buy a install kit and put it in my next truck ..
