Talking IT'S HERE!!!

I finally picked up my SuperCrew at the dock today, after its long voyage from Tacoma to Honolulu...to beautiful Kauai!

For those of you who have been following my progress, after my vacation in Oregon (where I took delivery), I held up shipping for 3 weeks as I waited in vain for my Smittybuilt step bars. Kept getting delays, so I told the broker I couldn't wait any longer.

The truck looks cool with the Warn brush gurad and winch, plus the diamond-plate aluminum dog box. I'll post pics later.

Needless to say, I've been mobbed by people who want to check out the truck, and everyone seems to love it- from the dock to the service station, the workplace, etc. My hunting and fishing buddies have been calling and/or coming by. Word gets around fast on a small island!

I'll load her up with my 6 setters tomorrow and do some bird dog training! Then I'll cruise the beaches- y'know: BABEWATCH Hawaii!

Hey Setter Man,

What kind of setters do you run and what in the heck do you hunt for on the island. I have a 2.5 yr old english that just loves to hunt but I am having trouble getting her to retrieve. Any pointers (pun intended).

Dave

minncrew,

I run Field Dog Stud Book registered setters on gamebirds such as pheasant, Erckel's francolin, black francolin, gray francolin, chukar, Kalij pheasant, Japanese quail, California quail, etc. Hawaii has a lot of exotic gamebirds. Too see more info on my dogs, visit: http://www2.hawaii.edu/%7Emcmahel/aftch.html

Look under member profiles.

If your dog doesn't retrieve naturally, your best bet is to force-break her. It's a lengthy process, so I'd avise you to consult available literature such as the Delmar Smith Method by Bill Tarrant.

Good luck!
