Question Is My dealer BS'ing me?

So I'm sitting in the "Purchasing Manager"'s office; I get him to committ to $100 over invoice. He punches in the computer for a while, and then says, "OK, it's ordered! I'll fax you a 'dora' (dealer order receipt?) within 48 hours to confirm". I didn't sign ANYTHING, gave him NO MONEY, and here it is a week later and he hasn't faxed me anything. Is this standard? Did anybody sign anything when they ordered or put a deposit down? I feel that I might sit around for 6-10 weeks and then they might get amnesia when I call them to check on my delivery date.

Should I be concerned?

Thanks.......

I was prepared to put a deposit down when I ordered my truck but did not have to do so. I did not get any paperwork or have to sign anything special, then again this was the 3rd vehicle that I had bought from the same salesman.

I ordered the same way. No deposit no forms to sign. I ordered from a dealer 800 miles away and it was delivered to a dealer in my city. Same dealership name, better price through E-Mail. No problems.

I had to put a one-thousand dollar deposit down, which I got a receipt for asked for a photo copy of the check.
They also gave me a copy of the dealers order receipt.
Better safe than sorry I quess.

I did not put a deposit on my truck and did not sign anything...4 weeks later it arrived from the factory. I asked them to fax me a copy of the DORA to confirm the order though.

Whaz,

I'd give him a call and tell you didn't get any reciept yet. Bad news is you're gonna have to be somewhat polite about it.
In about 6 weeks call him again and ask if if they got the truck's VIN #. So you can get your personal finances taken care of. Usually, the dealership gets the VIN # from the factory a couple weeks before the truck is delivered.

Just a word to the wise; without any agreement that you and only you can take possession of the truck. I'd bet they will be willing to sell that bad boy right out from under you as "dealer stock" to some ambitious buyer.

On the other hand, you are still free to shop and haggle too. I doubt you'll beat $100 over. If you get them to send you something with the DORA and your sales price, signed, THEN you are in business. They may just like to keep things loose to keep their options open. Bottom Line is they want to sell you the truck; but watch out for hanky panky on the price or worse yet the garbage fees and dealer ups/extras. They probably won't do too much monkey business; but I'd corner them right now.

Best of luck,
Joe

The dealer I used printed off the build/order sheet while I was at their office. He signed it and handed it over without me asking for it. He did mine for the price I wanted and we haggled over the priority level. (I just had to have it sooner!)

Unhappy

How long was delivery from the "rail carrier" to the dealer for those of you that special ordered and checked VOPC status.

Ordered 3/23
Built 6/7
Released to rail carrier 6/10
Estimated delivery to dealer week of 6/26
Arrived at ramp 6/20/00

Currently overdue as far as I'm concerned. Anyone care to confirm how long it takes for local delivery? When I call the salesman all I get is "it's due anyday".

The Access Rolltop cover is gathering dust in the basement. How much longer will I have to endure this misery? My wife can't stand the whining anymore.
