Talking Got mine and I love it!!!

Folks, it has been 10 years since I got my last new vehicle. I nabbed a 2001 Amazon green 5.4 Lariat SuperCrew off a local lot with 6 miles on it and I am about to have a fit I like it so much! I got everything but the moonroof and the block heater and drove it off the lot for $32,800 total bottom line, tax and all. I have just changed the oil at 500 miles, switching to 10W-30 Valvoline synthetic plus a small dollop of slick50. It was a bear to get to the oil filter and change it, man was it on tight from the factory and I got skinned knucks galore - I think I will let the Valvoline place do it for me in the future. I also installed black Westin nerf bars and peeled off the cheapo decals - the truck looks just awesome (pic soon).

I just finished putting in a Superchip (the truck would not start at first - Mike told me to clean the contacts again and that fixed it thanx Mike), and a K&N filter. I could feel a big difference with the chip, by the way, thumbs up on the way it shifts too, but I don't think my gas mileage is going to improve - it feels too good to put my right foot in it right now! It's my first V8 and I love it! Too bad gas prices have gone as high as giraffe nuts!

The truck is big and bad and smooth, and the ride is big, powerful, and rubbery, just the way I like it! I hope it lasts - I've never had a Ford before, I like Toyotas, but I couldn't bring myself to buy the Tundra. The SuperCrew is way better, I think, and only a little bit more moolah. I have found no defects in the truck yet except where some dolt at the dealer got black gummy stuff on the leather in a couple of tiny spots, but mineral spirits took it right off with no stain, and then I ScotchGuarded the whole thing. So far, I'm happy as a mule eatin' briars, and the truck looks great and draws stares, thats for sure. I am looking high and low for an Incredible Hulk decal for the tailgate!

Anyway, email me if you want the skinny on putting a superchip in yer SuperCrew. The big tip is : If you take out the battery and battery box, it is a piece of cake getting to the ECU connector.

WHOO HOOOO!

After searching Ford's great internet resource (www.dealervehicles.com), I got my loaded amazon crew for only $100 over invoice.

Talk to me about those Westin nerfs. Dual step? Specifically for the crew? Mounting location? Overall length? Photos? The Westin site doesnt list them.

* read my thread on the amazon green color. Welcome to the crew.

The nerfs are specifically for the SuperCrew, they are Westin model number 25-1885 (black ones), and they cost me around $190. They go from one end of the cab to the other, about 7' long I think (the box won't fit in the Crew bed, even angled, thats for sure; I had to drive home with them sticking up past the tailgate). They are dual steps for 4-doors, mount to 4 heavy plates that bolt to existing holes in the frame, and are easy to install. I don't have a digital camera, but will scan and post a pic when I get a chance. You could spen more and get something better, but I like these just fine.
