Question Air Intake Systems for SuperCrew?

Do any of you guys know if any aftermarket air intake filter systems are available for the Supercrew yet (Airaid, K&N FIPK, Airforce One, etc.)? I did send a query to K&N and they told me to get back in touch with them in December. Anyone have experience trying to retrofit a '99 - '00 F-150 air filter system onto the 'Crew? Sorry if this topic has already been discussed somewhere (where?). I did a search and couldn't find anything specifically related to the SuperCrew.

Any info would be appreciated.

The FIPK you're interested in can be purchased through the online store here on F150online. click this link: https://www.f150online.com/cgi-bin/f...NFIG=f150store and check out the "Under The Hood" section....

Question

Hi DuckHntr,

Thanks for your reply. However, the online store only lists K&N FIPK availability for F-150 models up to the 2000 model year. They don't specifically list the 2001 SuperCrew. If the FIPK for the 2000's fit the SuperCrew, then I have no problem. BUT, as I mentioned in my post, when I contacted K&N they said an FIPK for the SuperCrew wouldn't be available until December 2000 at the earliest. That leads me to believe me that the currently available FIPK kits DO NOT fit the SuperCrew. Otherwise, I presume K&N would have simply told me to buy the current FIPK for 2000 F-150s.

So, my original question still stands. Anyone try fitting a 2000 FIPK on their SuperCrew, or have any experience with Airaid, Airforce One, etc???

Autoloadr,
I asked this same question before and made herculean efforts to talk to K&N. (Being in CA also, I wanted my FIPK to have the CARB number for smog check.)

The K&N is only "Certified" for smog up to 1999. This appears to be an administrative issue with the CARB. I have made a lot of inquiries about whether our 2001 power plant is any different. It is not. The 1999 (The latest officially compatible) version is physically completely compatible. If they don't have the CARB issue resolved by the time we need to get a smog check (2005) then we will have to remove them for the check.

I had another user reply that he put one on his 2001 SCrew and said the kit fit perfectly.

Hope that helps. If you get one and install it, let us know how it goes!

Oh yeah!
It is K&N part number 57-2514-1.

You can get it from Summit Racing for $185.95
Their number is (800) 230-3030. They have free shipping which they say will be only 2 days where we live. (I have no interest in Summit Racing)

Another place you might try is Truck Performance Warehouse (877) 7trucks. They don't list our year (even 1999) in their catalog. But I have been very happy with them on thousands of dollars of other orders (They also run Mustangs Unlimited)

Again, please let us know what you do!

Talking

Thanks 1stSuperCrew,

I really appreciate all the information you've provided. Aha! . . . so it's the CARB! Being a Californian, I'm in the same situation you are. But, you've told me what I needed to know. The existing 1999 K&N FIPK fits the SuperCrew! I'll probably just go ahead and buy it and remove it if I have to when smog check time comes around. I'm presuming that K&N will provide CARB stickers after-the-fact (when available) to those who purchased FIPKs for 2000, 2001 vehicles. Do you happen to know if this is true? If not, I'll contact 'em and find out. I'm presuming that this CARB situation is the same for the Airaid and Airforce One air intake products? I'm intrigued by the Airforce One because the intake tube connecting the filter to the manifold is stainless steel. Probably doesn't work any better, but I'm a sucker for stainless! It is considerably more expensive though, at $269 (thanks for the Summit Racing quote!). I called the dealer that sells the Airforce One, SUV Specialties in Redondo Beach, and they said "Sure, this unit fits the SuperCrew and is California legal". Though, my impression was that this guy didn’t know what he was talking about.

In any case, I’ll certainly report the results of whatever I decide to do. Of course, It would help enormously to have a truck to bolt stuff onto! My scheduled delivery is still a month away. Arrgh!

Thanks again,
