Question Is FORD Listening? Buyers Want to Know!

i thought it would be neat to voice likes, dislikes, and "wish it had's" so that we may see future improvements (you know, for when i trade my crew in on another in a couple years ). additionally, expectant buyers can decide on options from our input. let it roll.

keyless entry. my view to date is keyless entry was for looking cool as you approach your vehicle and pop the locks. needless to say, that was not one of my options.

what i have learned. if you do not get this option the best you can do is unlock one of the front doors (unlike some brands where a double turn of the key unlocks both driver and passenger). if i only intend on getting something from the backseat i have to open the front door first, unlock the doors, then go in the back.

am i lazy. no. but for an extra $150 bucks life would be a little simpler.

(yes, i know there are aftermarket options, remember the point of this tread is to inform our future supercrew buddies and buddettes)

headrests. FORD! how could you have not put headrests on the backseat when they are available in the sport-utes. the sporttrack got em!

give me headrests. the magazines are gonna beat up our truck because of this one simple oversight.

The passenger side glove box- i would like it to close a little easier. I like hearing the 'click' of the glove box. I dont like having to slam it shut, and then bounce back onto my knees. The spring loaded box seems a little too 'loaded' to close easy.

I have to agree about the headrests and the keyless remote. I am getting keyless installed from a stereo shop in a couple weeks. I sure miss it. But I had to compromise on some options to get it right then and there. Didnt like that part either.

Make the Utility hatches behind the seat a few inches larger or all the way across.

Make the arm rests on the captain's chairs a little longer. Your elbow just hits the end. Or maybe it's my "missing link" posture!

Center seating positions where fold down armrest/cupholder apply need to be engineered to be "much more" comfortable. Now I know that cupholders are a primary concern for engineers these days but I seems that the cups are more comfortable than the passengers.

I love my crew but perfection is a direction that we are aiming in rather than ever getting there. With that in mind

1) Longer front seat middle arm rest in the split seat - and how do I rest my arm on the rest when it has drinks or cans in it?

2) The option of manual transmission, the automatic is very soft. I shouldn't have to buy an after market performance chip to get crisp shifting.

3) Better positioned overhead hand grasps for stability of passengers both front and back for off roading or even hard driving. It is hard to reach the handle as in both cases it is so far forward.

4) I would much prefer the cassette for the CD player to be more accessible rather than behind the seat.

5) Electric defrosters for the back window.

6) Sun visors like I have in my old '92 Explorer which can cover both the side and front at tne same time and also have a light in them.

7) Headrests (as everyone has already mentioned)

8) Daylight running lights as a selectable feature.

9) Front passenger seats which offer the same adjustments as the drivers.

Don't get me wrong I love the truck but would love to make it better.

I was surprised to find that the back of the leather seats (60/40) don't have rear pockets in them for the back passengers (kids). Also, how about that little cubby hole that use to be at your right knee level, that always came in handy.

Better color coordination of stripes and stickers for the Lariats. My truck blue/silver came with ROSE color stripes and "Lariat" sticker and with GOLD 4x4 stickers. That combined with the silver two-tone lower paint, the side looks like a h_ll.

I must agree with virtually all the previous recommendations.

As I mentioned in a post somewhere else on this web site:

-More choice for Lariat Wheels/Tires - specifically I'd like an 18" option.

-Offer as options factory installed hard AND soft tonneau covers (rumor has it that a soft one will be available for the SuperCrew and the new Harley D. F150 comes with a hard one).

-Upgrade the audio system - Pick-up trucks ain't just for country music on AM radio anymore. ;-) I would like more / bigger speakers with a subwoofer like the one that comes in my Expedition.

-Make the running boards more substantial (sturdier) and make them lighted (like on my Expy)

-Add a power sliding rear window option - especially in the SuperCrew where the driver has NO chance of reaching it from the front seat. If it starts raining, I got to pull over to shut it.

-Make the optional center console like the one in the Expedition - Let's face it, if you get the captain's chairs the floor space in between the dash and the console is just plain wasted.

Sorry for comparing this truck to my Expy so much. I know this is NOT supposed to be an Expy and certainly isn't priced like an Expy - but I think some of the options should carry over since the trucks are so similiar.

-Mike

put a delay on the interior lights so when you close the door, you have a few seconds to find the ignition, seatbelt, etc.

My two cent's worth (in addition to all the other good suggestions previously posted):

1)Add towing mirrors like the F-250. When you can tow 8000lbs, permanent towing mirrors should be included, at least as an option.
2)Make it clear which option are/aren't included for each trim line. This is a new vehicle, and there aren't many to see for a comparison of options, and the brochures and even the dealer's order sheets weren't too clear on some options, like the keypad entry.
3)Heated seats, especially for those in the colder regions.
4)A driver setting switch for pedals, mirrors and seat, like in the Expedition.
5)Dual sun visors (I've asked the dealer to see if those in the Expedition will fit in the Supercrew - if so I'm ordering a set).
6)QUICKER DELIVERY!!! My truck was built 4/26, shipped by rail 4/27, arrived at the ramp 4/29, and has yet to show up. The ramp is likely Windsor/Detroit, Buffalo, etc., somewhere only 2-3 hours away. The shortest part of the journey is taking the longest time.

In addition to the other comments (non-matched pinstriping, armrests, manual transmission) I hope Ford corrects the moonroof. The front aluminum (?) guide vibrates annoyingly at any speed above 30 mph-- I've tried closing it part way, etc., but haven't had any luck.

Overall, though, I love the truck!

Cheddarhead,
You might have something wrong with your moon roof. No problems/sounds, etc. with mind.

I too love my 'Crew but have the sunroof problem. My wind deflector appears to be plastic and gets a vibration going above 45 or so. This allows wind to dump into the headliner and the whole rear headliner gets a BIG vibration going. If I put my hand on the deflector the vibration stops and the problem lessens. I have complained to the dealer after my test drive and since but so far have no fix. Does anyone have a metal deflector or the plastic one without this problem?
