Question 2wd SuperCrew???

Okay, so according to Ford's site, you can get a 2wd SuperCrew, in the XLT variety, but I have yet to see one. Has anyone seen a 2wd XLT? I am curious which grill it gets, the egg crate, or the honeycomb. I mean, I know that most that end up on the lot will be 4x4's because they want to sell upscale models, but my father is looking to get one for business use, and he would be getting a 2wd XLT, and I would like a picture to show him.

Coming Soon - Leveling Kit, Step Bars, Bug Guard, K&N, etc, etc...

Vocaire,

About half the SuperCrew's I've seen in CA have been 2wd XLT's. Being as I have ordered a 4wd I haven't taken notice of the type of grille. They're out there. Sorry no pics.

Check out the "Post a picture" topic. Skyjet has added a pic of his 2wd Lariat and a lead to his website. That should answer most of your questions and give you some great pics.

Thanks USAF K9, whenever you see them again, take a look for me. The problem with the lariat is that it always comes with the honeycomb grill, so, it looks pretty much the same as a 4x4.

Actually,
I think the most commonly spotted SCrew down here in San Diego is the 4x2 XLT. That is still a hell of a lot of great truck. Ford Only makes XLT and Lariat trims for the SCrew; but the 4x2 XLT is probably the best all around "bargain" in this class. (Notice I couldn't resist getting the whole kit & caboodle).

Planned: K&N FIPK (When they get the CARB # for 2001's), Superchip

I've seen two Supercrew 4x2 XLTs. Neither had the "egg crate" or "honey comb" grille. Both had the chrome grill surround (it's body color on the Lariat and the 4x4 XLT)and the big gap crossing bars. See the right side of the F150online graphic at the top of this page. That's the grille you get on the 4x2 XLT. At least, that's all I've seen.

I believe the 4X2 XLT has the egg crate grill.

Vocaire,

I noticed that you are in Cleveland, Oh. If you want to see a 2wd SuperCrew XLT in person, just take a drive down to Montrose Ford at I-77 and Rt. 18, they have one sitting on their showroom floor (white over silver). It has the same grill as the one pictured in the graphics above, like LRM said.

Doug.

I have to agree with LRM as well. I went to test drive these about 2 weeks ago and noticed that all of the XLT models on the lot were 2WD and had the chrome shell grille. They also all came with 4.6L engine, so I imagine that this combo is going to be fairly common. All of the Lariats on the lot had the 5.4L engine and color coded grille. This was one of the first things I noticed because I have a 4.2L Supercab with the crappy chrome grille that I am desperately wanting to change out. I didn't notice how many 4X4 were on the lot, I'm not really looking to get into one of those.

I finally had my camera with me when I found a 2X4 XLT.
