We kinda kicked around to pro's and cons's of drop in versus spray in on another tread. My question is...

Has anyone with a spray in bedliner experienced problems with the "dents and dings" people keep eluding to?

I can't imagine having a problem with dents unless you are a construction worker or are HARD on your truck. For the average person, I wouldn't think you'd beat the bed up that much.

Question Why not have BOTH drop-in and spray-in bedliners?

I just had a Penda SR drop-in bedliner ($165.00 plus tax) installed in my two week old SCrew 4x4. What I really want is to have a Line-x spray-in for the overall rust protection with the drop-in on top of it for the dent and ding protection.

It's a lot of money, I know, but relative to what the vehicle cost, it seems like money well spent. Would appreciate any input, both pro and con.

K-9,

What I experienced with a drop in line eventually was rust. Here is why I beleive. My bedliner is fastened with sheet metal screws in the front, but on the sides, retainer type spring clips were used to minimize shifting of the liner. Over time those retainer clips rusted, and eventually shifting and vibrations of the bedliner caused those retainer clips to rust wear away the paint and protective metal coating. I believe that cause led to my truck bed's rust along the topside of the bed. If you get the picture the rust originated from underneath the top sides of the bed. I believe it was because of those clips that rusted. Will Linex, wear away after years of frictions, or other fastners that can rust? I don't know. But that was my experience with a drop in bed liner, perhaps the cost of a high density polyethylene line is worth it. Keep in mind that the beds dimensions may change with a thick coat of Linex, making it difficult to install a plastic liner.
