Post Dealer in Houston needed.

Howdy...I am thinking of getting rid of my '95 Chevy C1500 in favor of a 2001 SuperCrew Lariat.

I bought my fiancee a '99 Explorer XLT, but that's about my experience with Ford. I bought it this past November, so they were throwing them off the lots (.9%, etc.) I am wondering if anyone might have any reccomendations on a salesman/dealership in Houston (preferably near the I-10/Beltway west area.)

Thanks.

Pablo, this won't be in your desired area but I have nothing but good things to say about the folks at either McRee Ford in ****enson or their sister dealership: Bay Area Ford, on Bay ARea Blvd, in Clear Lake.
I have bought two cars from McRee in past few years and in past couple of months bought my wife's new Taurus and my F-150 at Bay Area. Bay Area was bought out by the McRee people about a year ago. They have the finest customer service I have ever seen. Our salesman was Brent Smith. He is in the used car office but can sell new ones.
Arce, in the service department, really takes care of us.
I recommend you do the research on your desired vehicle over the internet, then go in (to whatever dealer you chose) well informed as to what you want and how much you will pay. I think you will get a great deal. I paid about $11,700 for the most beautiful, immaculate '97 XLT/SXT with about 35,000 miles on it. There is not one single little bit of parking lot rash! The Houston paper is full of ads for trucks similar to mine but costing anywhere from $15k to $18K.
Anyway, good luck! This is just my opinion from several cars and many years dealing with these dealerships. Their website is WWW.BayAreaFord.com. You can even do a search of their inventory.

Pablo, our webmaster is a bit paranoid and his Censor machine is a little sensitive. I was trying to tell you that McRee is in Deckinson.( Had to misspell it on purpose to get passed the censors) I think you know the town I am talking about, just south of League City!

I have to agree on McRee Ford! I just bought a 2000 Expy from them and they are great. I also bought my previous F150 from them too. My Salesman was Mike Walker and he is a straight talker. No games, they just tell you that the price is so much over invoice and that's it. Take it or leave it. No one will ask you "what kind of deal will I have to make to get you to buy today" so there is no pressure. And their "invoice" compares accurately with Kelly Blue Book new car prices. McRee Ford is worth the extra drive!

Whatever you do, don't go to Ron Carter Ford in Alvin. I have had MULTIPLE bad experiences with their service department. If the service department is dishonest, so is the sales department.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

D(i)ckenson really isn't that far away, and I do most of my shopping by phone anyways, so this shouldn't be much of a problem.

I most likely won't be buying until either later in the year, or early next year (even though I've got the bug bad, but I'll definitely keep McRee/Mike Walker's name and number tucked away.

Thanks again, I really appreciate the help.

Pablo:
Just bought my new supercrew last week at Texan Ford on I-10 near Fry. Best deal I found around town - not a great deal but I wanted the truck BAD. Had good selection last week. Go to fleet department and talk to Will Boze 281-578-4345. Nice man and not all the garbage in dealing. My wife liked him and she hates car salesman.

Hope this helps...Jeff

Tommy Vaughn On Sheperd at 12th. I hate new car dealerships especially the places where they wait on the lot and open the car door for you. I actually had to ask for help here, They are the most laid back, straight forward dealership I have ever dealt with and gave me their best price up front, no B>S>. I checked same truck at a couple of other dealers and no one came close. My salesman was Randy.

Thanks JOHNNY.

Tommy's an Aggie, so I'd love to put a little more money in his pocket. I'll keep him in mind as well.

Jeff,

Thanks, I'll check them out. A co-worker reccomended a salesman over there when I was shopping for my fiancee's Explorer. They seemed quite nice, but we found the car we wanted ('99 model year in Nov '99 during year-end close-outs) at another dealership.

I'm thinking about waiting for a while (my truck only has a little over 70K miles and is still running great) before buying so I can wait until I've got a little more leverage to work with. Heck, the 0.9% financing I got on the Explorer was worth waiting for alone - that's basically free money.

I've decided to get rid of my truck sometime before it hits 100K, but I'd like to be able to wait until I can get similar financing (if at all possible).

Thanks again.
