Red face Bed measurements for Supercrew- Please help!

Hi all-

I ordered my Silver Metallic XLT last week. 5.4, towing pkg, skid plates, 3.55 lim. slip, etc., etc.

I have some quick questions for those of you who already have your supercrews:

What is the measurement from the outer top of the bed rail across to the opposite outer top? I'm having a custom tool box/dog kennel built and would like to have a perfect fit. My SC will have a bed liner, but the broker said that the rail is already covered and dimensions won't change.

Right now, we're estimating 46" across for the lower kennel section, 66" across for the upper box. Any input would be appreciated.

Look at posts under aluminum drive shaft topic in this discussion group. There are some comments in there that the bed is narrower at the back than the front for styling reasons. You may want to make a template before building anything.

Aloha.

Thanks, Docker.

After submitting the post, I found the exact post you are referring to. How perplexing!!!

I've already drafted a sketch (computerized & to scale) of the type of box I want (using my estimated measurements). Now I'm hoping that someone with a SuperCrew can give me the exact outer top rail to rail measurements across the bed on:

(a) The cab end

and

(b) 32" from the cab end of the bed

Anyone?

Mahalo!

The bed end is 72" and 32" from the bed end is 70.5". If you have any overhang that drops down the side of the truck it can only be about a half an inch, because there is a lip on the bed rail. If you can it would probably ba better to take a trip to a dealership that has one on the lot to check it out.

Flashgas,

Thanks! That gives me a better idea of what I'm working with.

Unfortunately, no dealer on my Island (I'm from Hawaii) has a SuperCrew yet- not for a month or two, I'm told. Hopefully, I'll be able to see one either here or when I make a trip to Honolulu (and put my tape to it)in time to order my dog/tool box, so that it arrives in Oregon about the same time as the truck. The broker will install it, along with a brush/grille guard, winch, etc.

Thanks again!
