Angry Dealers and Supercrew pricing

Curious if anyone else has come across the same experience I have had attempting to order a Supercrew. Went to 6 Ford dealers in the VA-DC-MD area and 5 would not even discuss the dealer invoice. Two dealers said 2500 OVER RETAIL!! Lowest of 5 was retail plus "around a thousand".(Didn't get into deep discussion....to disgusted)

Luckily I spoke with my brother and he is tight with a dealer in MD. I can oreder one for 700 over DEALER INVOICE!!! Biog difference. Without a connection, I would be looking at 5-5 thousand more for the truck. Is this outrageous or is this unique to my area?!?! (yeah, I doubt it!)

A lot of dealers in Houston are pulling the "we want sticker + X" BS too. BUT, McRee Ford outside of Houston is ordering Supercrews for 1000 over INVOICE. And they will show you their cost. Shop around. You have have to get out of the big city to find a better deal.

Anyone who lives in the Houston area, I recomend McRee Ford. I've bought several vehicle from them and have been treated fairly every time.

I asked the owner of a huge Ford dealership, thats sells several hundred trucks a month about these over invoice pricing done by Ford dealers.
He told me, first don;t buy from them and secondly turn them into Ford, get a written buyer form and make sure you get it signed before you contact Ford customer service.
I asked him this back in Sept when I bought my truck, I asked how were these dealers getting away on jacking up the price on the Lightnings, he said it's not legal and Ford should be notified...
There may be something to this, cause he got 19 lightnings in and picked up an addtional 6 and all were sold at MSRP...

J C, glad to hear not everyone is jumping on the "gouge the shopper" bandwagon. If my deal falls through, may have to fly to Houston!! Funny, went by a small town dealer today and he had an Excursion with a sticker of 42 PLUS a dealer markup to 44,500!!! Rediculous. I mentioned this outrageous policy to a manager and he said "tough, the whole region only got around 440 Excursions, so we can do this easily".

J.C- Problem with 250 is I (unlike alot of truck owners) like to keep my truck in the garage. Also the suspension is a little milder on the Supercrew and don't do hardly any towing either.

MSRP- 30,600 Priced out at 27000 w/moonroof and most gadgets BUT no leather

** Forgot- 4x4 w/slip

97 Blk F-150, cap, 285's BFG, Python wheels, obnoxious 4by4 off road graphic removed. scratchless!!

>>>>I bought my truck from a dealer accross the TN line from VA in Johnson City, TN not far from Bristol, TN where the big boys race. They sold me my truck for $50.00 over invoice, no haggling, and it was there first offer. Several people recommended them to me and everyone I spoke with had the same experience with them. They advertise invoice pricing, I have know idea about their price on the Supercrew F150, but I would guess they would offer the same $50.00 to $100.00 over invoice. The only thing is you don't get that price if you are trading something in so you are better off selling your other vehicle and paying a cash price. They do have a website, www.tnmotors.com and you could email them or call them for prices. I'm not plugging them, just relaying a good buying experience from this dealer in hopes that it might save you some dollars or give you a little leverage at the dealer near you.

I went to the "Build your own" web-site http://www.ford.com/default.asp?pageid=114
to see if they had the SuperCrew there.
They don't
Too bad because after you "build it" by selecting all your options, you can connect to a dealer that will sell it for $300 over invoice.
Order over the web and save $$$$$
I guess you can still save $$$$$ and order a Super Duty Crew Cab (like I did). You get a LOT more truck for LESS $$$$$.
If you've got your heart set on one of them lil ones, you will PAY for it.
Good Luck

I just priced out a 2000 Super Duty XL Crew Cab 4x2 with 5.4l V-8 5-Speed at $24055. How much are they asking for the Super Crew???

Check the Length of a SuperDuty CrewCab.
When I ordered mine, I ordered the ShortBed BECAUSE IT FIT IN MY GARAGE.
Yes, I would have to move some stuff from the end and put it on the side. If you stay with 4x2, it'll clear the door by 1.5 - 2 inches.
For the $$$$$ saved buying a SuperDuty Crew instead of a SuperCrew, you could enlarge your garage
Just like a good carpenter - MEASURE TWICE.
You will be pleasantly surprised.
Good Luck.

J.C- Sounds nice except I gotta go with a 4x4 AND the wifey, (I know new truck, maybe new wife!) likes the Supercrew alot better than the 250. She drives an Expedition. She says 250's are to "truky" (duh!) Also live on typyical No. Virginia postage stamp sized lot.....garage renovation might put me in the neighbor's family room!!!

later....John

A few words of advice! Avoid the Ford-owned Superstores (They call them Auto Collections around here). I don't know if they have expanded beyond the intital two test markets of Indianapolis and Salt Lake City, but, these guys don't deal.

After a terrible experience at the two local Auto Collection dealers, I sent a fax outlining what I wanted and what I was willing to pay to 10 small-town Utah dealers. I got immediate replies from two and a whole different attitude. There is a *huge* difference between paying MSRP of $32860 for what I want (Auto Collection) and paying approx. $680 over invoice. My final price on an XLT Supercrew with all the options except moonroof, video system, bucket seats bed extender (delays order processing) and engine block heater was $29288 (Invoice of $28608). I consider this reasonable given the market realities of limited production and new model popularity.

Of course, I have to tack tax and license on to that plus a reasonable $80 doc fee (couldn't talk my way out of that one). Auto Collection dealers wanted $200-250. Can you say "additional dealer profit?"

As always, shop around. It pays to do so.

Soon-to-be (4 months they tell me) Supercrew owner. Yes, I prefer the Super Duty, however, the size intimidated my wife. I "yielded" on this one. :-

JC: I test drove the SuperDuty CC home to make sure it would fit in the garage!! Truck fit but the tow mirrors had to go. Ordered mine with the reg mirrors but with power. I always back in but I have to still watch those mirrors, clearence is about an 1" on each side. My garage is big enough that I still have 1' at the door so I can walk around the truck. I love this truck!! Although I can't wait to see some of the new SuperCrews out on the hwy and maybe go test drive one too.

Unhappy

Bummer! I think I'm getting a great deal on a new truck; did all the homework, faxed 10 dealers with the specs, got three good replies, plunked down $500 yesterday to get the thing ordered from the dealer with the best offer ($600 over invoice). I received a fax today from cars-n-trucks.com. They could have saved me $528!

Don't order anything until you check out cars-n-trucks.com!!!
