2001 door cracks??
Does anyone have any information regarding 'cracked doors' on the new 2001 supercrew? Before I lay down 25+ for a new truck I do not want to be bothered with having to have my door replaced etc. especially since ford knows of the problem long ago!! I would hope an engineering change would have been implemented by now, I hope so.
Any input would be greated appreciated, as I am ready to order one, but not if this problem has not be dealt with.
thanks..jim aldridge

Doors can't crack. I just looked at a new SuperCrew last week at a local dealer, the doors are a lot different. It's hard to explain, but they wont have a problem with door cracks. It's got a rubber piece that runs up the door, so no paint where the window is on the side, so no way to crack. Maybe I will run by the dealer the week and get a pic of the doors.

Sounds good the supercrew doors will not crack...next question...can they be installed on our trucks?
Supposedly (from another thread)...FORD is going to have a 'fix' out for this within 6 months. I am not holding my breath..but I hope it happens soon!!

I can also confirm that the 2001 Supercrew doors WILL NOT CRACK! I finally looked at one yesterday...and you will be just fine.
I like the optinal moonroof OR rear seat entertainment TV.

Dustoff- I noticed you've got a 2000. Are the doors still cracking on these? I thought Ford had sorta got a handle on that in mid '99, but if not perhaps I'll look harder at a SCrew... 2byford
No one yet has reported that their 2000 has cracked. Most 99s still are too new to have cracked yet also. To be honest with you...there is no exterior change on the doors (I had a 98 supercab) except the weather strip. The door still flexes when the window is closed. Inside..I don't know.
Another F150online member ..Sycoholic, who works for FORD..has posted that nothing was changed for the 2000. This door crack problem (potential) is my only complaint right now. My 98 with almost 20,000 miles never developed this problem OR had the piston slap problem. I rarely use my windows and now slowly 'tap' the windows to the full close position to lessen the rapid pressure on the door metal. Who knows if this will help...but I hope FORD has a fix out soon for ALL model years.
I like the Supercrew...it seems very nice. I have no regrets about ordering my 2000..the Triton engine and new body style is the best!
