new screw

hey.

im new to the world of supercrews. i figure this is the section of the forum ill be spending all my time in, so this would be a good way to introduce myself to the guys ill be talkin to most.

just bought mine earlier today, will be picking it up this week.

2003 SuperCrew 4x4 XLT, RED, MINT INTERIOR, MINT EXTERIOR.

just a little background (im proud).

i came across a 97 wrangler for 3500 bucks about 3 months ago. it was completely in showroom condition, but had been stored in a barn so none of the electrical worked (lights and signals). kbb was $5k on it.. so i grabbed it. fixed the electrical myself (bad grounds) put a 2" coil spacer lift on it for $80 bucks, and got some used mud tires for $100 bucks

got it up on craigslist friday for $6k firm. didnt really expect alot of bites.

I WAS WRONG lol.

sold it yesterday for $6k cash money.

started searching cragslist and ebay for extended cab trucks in my area last night. 01ish chevy silverado z71s, 98-01sh dodge rams, and i wasnt really looking for fords, because i dont like the 97-03 bodystyle, except in super crew.

my budget was $6k.

came across an ebay ad for my truck, with a buy it now for $7200.

called the guy, hes a wholesaler who gets local trades from the dealers and sells them off. he says $6500 gets it.

looked up kbb on it, $9k for private party, $10k for retail.

i got it.

yay for me.

well now that you read all that stuff heres some pics.

enjoy.

Nice truck! I went from an 02 Wrangler, same setup, 2" coil spacers w/ 31x 10.50s on her, sold on craigslist within a week and i made out good. Great rides, fun to drive, so versatile with hard n soft topes, doors stripped if you like...but, i got into a 02 Super Crew FX4 with same mileage and bigger engine not to mention much nicer ride and can haul chit again with the bed for less than i was paying on the jeep.
This is my first Ford vehicle since my first car ...73' Gran Torino. Hope it pans out!

looks very nice, i always liked the red 4x4 screws myself.

what engine is in your truck? Im guessing 5.4 b.c its got an aftermarket brake controller installed.

Be sure to check all your fluids, especially trans fluid to see not only level, but condition of the fluid.

I might have missed it, but how many miles on the screw?

154k miles.

i was a little weary of the mileage, but i own it outright, so im not paying $300 a month on it.. so im not as worried about things breaking.. even though i will still be pissed

i did check all the fluids when i picked it up.

im going to recheck them tomorrow to make sure nothing screwy is going on.

seems to ride fine, i drove it around for 30 minutes before i did the deed, 4hi, 4low, and 2wd all shift fine.

the drive home was around 80 miles, and it did great.

tranny fluid was fresh. that was the first thing i checked being it was obviously used for towing.

im going to drop the pan myself after about 3000 miles, which should take me a while lol, and check for anything weird in the pan.
