2007 crew cab fx2 4.6

I have a 2007 Crew Cab 4.6 FX2.
I would like to be able to tow with it. I need to be able to pull a trailer and 71 cutlass (bout 6000 pounds) When i use the truck to pull it sounds like it really is having a hard time. I cant change the rear gears due to the warrenty and because it is a everyday driver I already only get about 17 to 18 mpg hwy and about 13-15 in city. This is with the edge programer and a CAI.
Any ideas??? I only have about 30000 miles and wife really doesnt want me to trade a paid off truck for a new one or someone elses used truck,, though I dont know why since we have had luck with very low mile used cars....

First off, Welcome!

gears are about the only thing that is going to make a noticeable difference with towing.

Yep, gears are about it for towing.

What kind of fuel economy do you get while towing? What engine speed it is running, peak when accelerating and when cruising?
