No Audio Room!
No Audio Room!
Alright, I have done at least 10 previous vehicles with sub boxes and I love the nice bass (read nice bass, not obnoxious rattle).
The new 2008 crew cab has no space. Maybe in the back half of the center console, or the single 10 to 12 under driver side of the back seat, but can anyone who owns a 2008 crew cab give me some ideas of what actually works.
The local shop, which I thought would give me ideas, actually gave me a huge estimate of like 7000 for the system I wished for. I was just being careful since this was my first real brand new car.
HELP
Can I get 2 10's behind the rear seat with an amp for the subs to start.
I don't mind amps under the driver and passenger side but do the rear passengers kick at them (No company yet but sooner or later there will be)
Front speakers are 5x7's correct but can I get some 6 1/2's componenets in there without too much hasssle?
Thanks

Welcome. A search will show tons of options many people run 2-10s under the rear seat ith plenty of room to mount amps behind the rear seat. I will be running my amp there just so it is of of the floor for feet and spills. Check in the Audio section an the 04-08 section. Post pics too, they are always a plus.
I'm about to buy the whole setup for 2 10" subs and an amp. The most space I've seen under the seat is around .65 cu.ft. per chamber without a seat lift. You have to remove the jack to get the full space for 2 subs!!! With the seat lift you can get .95 cu.ft. of space. This is all based off of mail-order boxes, you can probably squeeze a bit more if you build your own.... Everyone says no problem on class D amps behind the seat, so that's what I'll go with. You can find a couple of websites that can help you remove the backrest (google)....

I have an MTX Thunderform under my driver's side rear seat and it sounds great. It comes loaded with a bottom firing 12" Sub and I have it powered by a 420 watt amp mounted on the back wall behind the passenger side of the rear seat. They also sell a powered version so you do not need to get the amp and everything else. It sounds incredible plus I still have all the storage space under the passenger side of the rear seat for the jack, etc....
BTW, one 12" sub will hit harder and louder than 2 10" subs.

This is definitely not true. 2 10" subs will be louder than 1 12" sub if they are the same brand/series of sub. Hell, I've heard 8's hit harder and sound just as good as 15's. It's all in the box design........
I wouldn't recommend installing the amp behind the back seat. Despite what the store will say regarding the cooling system on the amp, you really don't want to have an amp installed where it doesn't have some room to breathe. Also, if you ever want to adjust your amp settings, it's gonna be a bitch.
I installed an amp under each front seat and haven't had a problem with people kicking them. If somebody is new in my truck I'll just mention to them to be careful about not jamming their feet under the seats.
I run two 10's under the back seat without having to adjust the height on it. Of course getting the box wedged in there wasn't too fun but it's in there and doesn't stick out.
You can get 6 1/2"s in the doors but if you're not experienced with installation you'd be better off paying somebody to fabricate a nice setup inside the door panel. It's pretty pricey but the sound makes it well worth it. While you're in the door make sure to deaden it. Again, kind of pricey but worth it.
Good Luck
