Problems

Okay, I have an 06 Supercrew with 42,000 miles on it. My question is, are any of you owners out there having things go out, such as the heater core, or maybe the window motor or the starter? The reason I'm asking is because i'm extremely tempted to get an ESP, but I don't want to waste the money because at 80,000 miles I'm going to buy a new truck.

I have 77,000 on my 05. Had a wheel bearing go out at 41,000. Cost me about $350 to replace ***** front rotors. Not sure if that would have been covered had I had an ESP. I have never purchased an insurance program, always felt they were just money makers for the dealer.

ESP's are definately a crap shoot. I've had a truck that never needed it and my '03 that it saved me a big transmission bill. So far my '06 has just had the master window switch take a dump at 20K mi. Apparently that's become common from what my tech says.

just wondering

Thanks you all, the wife and I decided emphasis on wife haha, that if I were to spend that much I might as well go buy another truck. So with that being said, with in the next two years looks like I'll be getting another F-150 or an F-250 power stroke. Only time will tell.

My passenger side window switch developed an issue recently. The window will go down, but it won't go back up using the passenger side switch. I can roll it up and down using the master switch on the driver' side though. Luckily I'm at 35,780 miles right now so still under warranty so gotta get it in soon.

The head tech at my dealer (or service advisor, whatever they're called) recommended to get the powertrain warranty. He mentioned that there's something on the tranny which is a fairly common thing to go wrong, and when it does, it expensive. Wish I could remember what it was. I'll be seeing hinm in about half an hour anyway, to get the recall done and the third brake light fixed, again. (high power carwash made it leak)

He has no reason to try and sell a warranty BTW. That's not even his field, but that was what he recommended. Anyway, I landed up with the Extra Care warranty for 7 years or 150,000 km's because I landed up getting a good deal on it, at cost. The powertrain warranty was within 100 bux so why not, and a $50 deductible.

I also have the ESP-Extended Service Plan on the Focus, and it only has 20,000 km's left on it (6/120,000). Never needed to use it, so far. Same with the truck, so far, but the ESP on the truck just started.

My last GMC I paid $2000 on an ESP and claimed $8000, and it still wasn't fixed properly when I got rid of it.

The Taurus I had I broke even on the ESP.

Like was mentioned, it's a crap shoot, but it's also peace of mind. I get a loaner if needed with this ESP as well, and roadside assistance.
