New Owner (Rookie)

Hi my name is Chad. I'm new to the site I've never owned a truck in my life. Always wanted to but never got enough morale courage to buy one. Always felt I was to young for one. I'm 25 now and just bought myself a 2007 F-150 Supercrew. I just wanted to ask the guys that have like 250k+ How do you keep your truck so dependable for that long. Also what measures can I take now to prevent breakdowns. Like what parts should I exchange with something new (cause its stock). Ill enjoy making new friends with you guys. Take it easy hope to hear from you guys soon.

Welcome to the site, as far as making your truck last a long time, your choice of brand was a huge step in the right direction. Follow the maintenance schedule like yz said and barring any major irregularities, your going to be good for a long time.

MotorCraft 5w-20 or Mobil-1 5w-20, both companies filters will do an exceptional job also!.........Shell is a great Gas!.......

Congrats and Welcome. You can get a lot of good tips reading the threads here. For specific problems or issues you can find quite a bit of info searching for it. If you don't find anything just ask. Changing out stock parts for something new is called mods, and what mods are best is subject to opinion and what comes on your truck. Here is my list in order of importance according to my opinion:

1) Tonneau, cap or liner
2) Silicone wiper blades (silblade)
3) Navigation (Garmin)
4) Shocks (Bilstein or Rancho)
5) break pads (Hawk)
No one else here will have the same list of mods in the same order.

Looks like you have a 2wd?

Oil - good and cheap is Motorcraft at Walmart for like $10 per gallon. Its semi synthetic. These trucks are pretty durable. Will you be using it like a truck or just commuting? Depending on how you use it, you could do a few things here and there to make it even better for that purpose.

Nice truck and welcome to the site! Drive it easy and do the regular maintainence and it should be OK for a long time. Do a walk around check daily and check tires, light's etc. Once a week open the hood and check oil and other fluid levels. Also check belt's and hoses on a regular basis. Remember the more you abuse a vehicle the more problem's you will have. Hope you stay happy with it a long time!
