Is it possible to make my back passenger windows go all the way down?

The rear windows only go about 3/4 of the way down. Is there an easy fix so that they can go all the way down?

yeah I know they do on the 04+ trucks, but they don't on the previous gen trucks. I really don't know why either.

Might be the placement of the rear door speakers. The magnet may be in the way of the window, so they may have stopped them at 3/4 open. It's just a guess... I've seen a lot of aftermarket speakers get in the way of the rear door window mechanism/track.

Chances are, it's a safety feature to stop kids from crawling out the window. Probably injured kids and animals instead, so it got dropped... Just a WAG.

Rumor is that for the '01-'03 Screws Ford used the window regulators from the Expys so they wouldn't have to redesign new ones. Pure economics, Ford saved money and we got Screws

Correct. Expy doors are notched for the rear wheels and the windows can't go down. The first generation Screws used a lot of Expy parts.

That's right, 1G Screws used the 1G Expy rear door window regulators that have a much shorter wheelbase than the Screw. it's been asked, discussed, investigated, thoroughly beaten to death. No one has done it yet, so it ain't easy.

measure the rear door, i think the issue isnt only with the windows regulator but also with the width of the rear door down towards the middle...pretty sure there isnt enough room for the glass to fit all the way down...so that would make it all but impossible to get the windows to drop all the way down i think

Cashel, I don't know if you remember me, but I live in Ocala and we went to the same high school. We have talked before.

Anyway, when did you get a new truck? Didn't you have that tan XLT? That truck in your sig is sweet.

Hey, yeah I remember you. Last November, RIGHT before Thanksgiving, I was hit by a kid in a civic, 'totaling' my truck. I was pissed because I was planning on putting the lift I have for sale in my sig + 38's on the truck. Insurance gave me a pretty good value for it and I went ahead and spent a little more to get the truck I had always wanted . Gas is raping me right now, but you gotta pay to play.

edit: are you still in ocala? What are ya doin now out of H/S? How's your truck, etc.?

Well that's unfortunate about your old truck, but I must admit your new one is 100% better. It's just about perfect.

I'm doing well. I'm starting my second year at CFCC and I'm still working at Sears Auto Center (been there over a year now).

My truck is as great as it's always been. I'm still taking care of it and it still takes care of me. Pretty close to flawless... at least I try to keep it that way. I still love it.

Congrats on the new truck man. You back in town?

No, there is room but the regulator has short rails which would require modifications to allow the glass to go lower and the mechanism would also require modifications to change the travel distance. It was fixed on the 04 models. The rear speaker does not even enter the door cavity. It is in a plastic pod screwed to the outside of the inner panel.
