08 FX2 or 60th?
08 FX2 or 60th?
I just got back from the dealer and i'v narrowed my choice down to the FX2 supercrew or the 60th anniversary supercrew. The FX2 is about $2000 cheaper but is loaded with almost every option. The 60th is a 4x4 with a few small options, mirrors, power rear window, fog lights etc. They both have the 5.4L. I live up here in Canada and i like the fact of having the 4x4 for the bad snow falls we get in the winter, but man do i love the look and handling of the FX2. Which one should i go with? Thanks
OK, I'll bite...
Ask yourself "How many times have I REALLY needed 4X4 where I REALLY live and how I'll REALLY use the truck."
At $3.30 a gallon, I'd vote for a 2WD truck with limited slip on it even in Canada unless I really lived on property or somewhere the roads weren't plowed well in the winter. If you trade trucks regularly, you MIGHT be able to justify the 4X4 on trade-in values in Canada. What really matters is what the market wants as far as trade-in values go, but 4X4 in rugged climates sells...
In my case, I've REALLY needed 4X4 exactly once in the last 5 years down here in the Deep South. I drive off road on a small farm and use my truck as a truck so I'm not exactly a tree hugger. But I can still deal with the loss of 4X4 for the better handling 2WD vehicle and roughly $1000 a year in gas savings of my 2WD 5.4L with a 3.55 axle that gets around 16 in mixed city/highway. This compares to the 13 or so other 4X4 folks on the forum get driving in-town. For what it's worth...
