How to relocate jack from under rear seat to spare tire

I've heard you can put the jack underneath the truck with the spare tire instead of under the back seat. Anyone done this? How do you do it?

You probly just take out the spare tire, set the jack in the spare, then put spare back. I havent heard of this being done but this is how I would guess.

You need to position the spare so it is face down and there should be enough room to set the jack inside the rim and crank it back up into place. Just be sure the spare is firmly seated and not wobbling around.

most people put it in a small duffle bag to keep it from getting jammed up with dirt

The only issue I see is that for us that deal with bad weather (snow, ice, etc...) it would get wet and rust and not be very useful when you needed it.

Personally, I keep mine in my DU-HA underneath the rear seat. It has a molded section that is made to hold the jack as well as provide lots of extra storage.

I stored mine in a custom made container in the bed. The tonneau cover keeps it out of the weather and from getting stolen.

Somehow, a hyperlink to the Moss Motors web site page for the Du-Ha underseat storage bin went to my wife's e-mail account to inspire her to buy it for me for the s'crew for Christmas. It's all I want and/or need (I'm pretty simple this way).

I'll put the jack "back under" the seat once I get the underseat storage installed along with the small air compressor, fire extinguisher, jumper cables, hitch-ball, tie downs, spare jacket, road atlas, road hazard light, batteries,
etc., etc... Other than that stuff, I can't imagine why anyone would want to move the tire jack outside the truck.

Ditto the prior posts about putting the jack out in the weather. A couple of years worth of rust is going to make it interesting to change a tire when the inevitable happens. Maybe an oil soaked cloth in an airtight bag would protect it if you have to have the space?

I have the DU-HA in my '07 Screw. All I have to say is good luck getting all that stuff you think you are going to carry into the DU-HA. I have my jack, a small socket set, maglite, a towel, a few shop rags and a stapler in it. The DU-HA is about 80% full. The way a DU-HA is molded, there is little usuable storage space in it. I totally agree to keep the jack out of the weather, but do not think for a second the DU-HA is the storage answer to your needs. Get a low profile tool box for the bed.

Molded to hold a jack? Besides just sitting the jack in the box, there is no place to mount/secure the jack to the box. At least that is the way my box is.

I am going to put the jack in a towel to keep it from rattleing, and then rap put in a water proof bag, like the ziploc waterbags, and then put it in the spare. I am getting subs and it is in the way.

If having good storage space is not the motivating factor, this is an excellent storage unti.

And here's the same one from Moss. Hopefully saves a few bucks after all shipping, tax, etc is considered...

Here is a link to their site. There is a pic of the jack on the spare.

Does anyone know when the F-150 went to the scissor jack?
I'm guessing '04 new bodystyle?
I have the bottle jack.
