Question How Much Weight?

I need to haul 1 ton of material and have a 2003 Screw. Should I make 2 trips?

I would figure it like this, if the distance one way is less than 30 miles, make two trips.

I'd figure 15 mpg @ 2.50 per gal is 10 bucks.
A second trip would also take another hour out of my life.

I'm not going to abuse a major investment for 10 dollars and one hr savings.
If it's a greater distance then one trip could be weighed as 'worth it'.

I'm sure you'll get many stories of bravado hauling three tons and whistling all the way but a supercrew doesn't even have the dang rear axle centered under the bed.

Depending on the material and how far you have to drive, I'd say load it and drive carfully. I've 2590 pounds of pool sand in my 2003 Screw bed for a short distance.

Just 1 ton? You're fine. You csan tow 4x that so toal wieght is no issue. Just suspension and weight in box. I have had 3500 pounds in mine. It was fine. Have had over 4K pounds in a long bed chevy 1500 - was fine. But it did wheelie a bit on take off.

Thank you very much for your replies. I chickened out and made 2 trips. Didn't want to hurt her.
