hope I'm not jumping the gun....

Hey there. I'm a newbie here, and figured this was as good a time as any to make my first post. I've started the process to get myself into a '06 CPO SCrew. Currently, I'm driving an '03 SportTrac but I need the F150 to pull a horse trailer. My brother-in-law owns a Ford dealership up in NY state, and he's been great helping me get into a sweet ride. I was originally looking to get an '07 leftover, but I couldn't get what I wanted within my budget so he steered me towards a CPO. The nice thing I get with the CPO is the 100k powertrain warranty. I do 120+ miles daily round trip to work, so I'd burn through the mileage well before I hit the years on any warranty.

Anyway, he's hooking me up with a Shadow Gray FX4 SCrew with decent equipment and only 20k miles. The only thing I'm going to have to add is the bed liner and I'm ready to roll. It's got the black/flint "sport cloth" (what the heck is sport cloth?) captains chairs, Audiophile stereo (w/Sirius ant, so I can hook up my Sportster), power sliding rear window, running boards so the wife and kids can get in, and of course, the front license plate bracket!

I'm really excited, and hopefully I didn't just kill the deal by posting this message prematurely.

It's a marketing thing. Sounds better than "Couch Potato cloth" I've got the two tone black/flint cloth too. Great look.

Well, I did it. I jinxed myself by posting about the truck. Apparently my brother-in-law was too slow to pull the trigger and some other dealer jumped in and bought the truck from underneath us.

You won't be hearing from me until I have my new SCrew in the driveway.

Just take it as a sign that you are better off without that one. Good luck with the search.

That's a lot of miles @ 15-18mpg and $3/gallon. Are you prepared to spend over $100 a week commuting?

Honestly, I'm not doing a whole lot better in the SportTrac -- I've been averaging 18.6 over the past 3 months. It's all straight highway driving (100+ miles of it), and I tend to set the cruise right at 65.

Also, the comfort of the upright seating position in a truck makes it worth it for me.

Besides, here in Jersey I'm still paying $2.59!

I haven't seen $2.59 since 2001. Were at about $3.15 out here in Northern Nevada, not that it matters.
