Rattle in Headliner
Rattle in Headliner
Last night I was riding in my neighbor's '06 Lariat SCREW and he was complaining about a rattle in his headliner. His interior is identical to mine, but I haven't experienced this problem. The rattle sounds like it is coming from the area directly behind the power sun roof. Almost sounds like a brace or support arm is loose, but the roof still works fine. Has anyone else had this problem, or will we have to drop the headliner to find out what is causing the rattle? Thanks is advance.
I can't say for sure what the rattle is but I think you're on the right track. I had problems with my 03 SCrew power moonroof not closing (later found out my 3 year old was the culprit). I had to drop my headliner and unjam it. There were a lot of parts in there that could come loose.
I would recommend dropping it and taking a look if you're certain thats where it's coming from. I know the interiors on the 03 and 06 are different (obviously) but dropping it on my 03 was pretty easy, took me about 30 minutes. I would imagine the 06 would be the same. Your buddy may want to have another guy support the headliner while he takes it down, as not to crease it. But it can be a one man job, just easier with 2.
Another suggestion would be to WD-40 the door locks on the inside of the jams. I had a few rattles coming from mine that were driving me crazy, easy fix. Just another thing to check before you take down the headliner. Good Luck!
