That being said, I cut off my muffler and added a turn down just behind the cab. This was fun for a week or so until I realized it was so loud in the cab (specifically around 1,700-2,500RPM) that you couldn't talk on the phone or to another person without raising your voice. I eventually had a local shop run dual pipes (from each cat) to an x pipe, then out to the bumper - this made a much better tone and it was actually bearable in the cab, although it was loud enough to set off car alarms if you got on it in a parking lot. It would always draw attention (good and bad!) and was a big of a nuisance at drive thrus - they couldn't ever hear what I wanted to order!
It was fun to have for awhile, but I have a Flowmaster on my '05 with SI/DO, and wouldn't want to go without a muffler again, just my opinion based on experience. I'd go with a semi-loud muffler with an aggressive tone if I had to re-do it again - I have no idea which muffler would do this but there are some other members I'm sure have the answer.
Hope this helps!
i did this on my 2001 screw 4.6l and it lost all of its low end completly, i wouldnt recomend it, i know it sounds cool but id throw a muffler on it. you need to have some back pressure and the cats just aint enough to give you that low end stock torque.
