too many miles?

So i'm looking for a vehicle to replace my aging jeep cherokee. I came across today a BEAUTIFUL 4door F-150 lariat, power everything, leather, DVD player, premium sound. 5.4ltr v8 bedliner, whole 9 yards. asking price is 17,999. However it has 130,000 miles on it. anyless and I would have jumped on it right away, but 130k is A LOT. So i guess what I'm asking is if its worth taking a gamble on, i'm sure i could talk them down another 2 k so i'd probably be looking at about 16k. But is it too many miles?

I wouldn't pay that price. For that price you're not too for off from getting a new/newer truck.

good choice, replacing a chrysler.

first of all, good choice. replacing a chrysler with a ford is always a good thing! :-) but what year is it. do you know if it was owned by a business? long distance 130000 mls with propper maintenance shouldn´t be a problem for this truck. how does the inside look. leather and stuff, worn? how does it drive. when were the sparkplugs changed?

miles dont mean that much, the service does

first off, i have to agree with the previous post, 130k isnt that many miles with good service. Now for those people who change their oil when the light comes on or once a year "stay away" from those.
Service records are the key to buying a used vehicle. Check with the previous owner if it is on a lot. If not, ask where they had their services done or if they kept a log if they do their own.

A well kept & serviced motor will last over 200k. (at least a Ford anyway)

The local Ford dealer has a very clean and babied 2003 Lariat SCrew with a fiberglass tonneau. 40,000 miles, $20K.

That price for 130,000 seems excessive.

That's a lot of miles for at most a 4 year old vehicle. Probably a company fleet/service or slaesman's vehicle. While I woudlnt' be concerned with 130k miles, I tihnk you can find a lower mileage one (under 75k) for a couple grand more. Or, offer $10k and walk over $11.

ouch... sounds high. i just bought my 05 supercrew lariat with 25k in near perfect condition from a local dealership for $20K with brand new tires (OEM...put them on while i was signing the paperwork) and 75K mile extended warranty. i'd steer clear of that one if I were you... keep looking. i looked for abotu 6 months before i came across that deal...

I found my 05 XLT SCREW with 4,200 miles and got it for 17K about 4 months ago. Nerf bars, sunroof, power slider, spray in bedliner, bed extender, basi power pedals, MP3....basically everyting extra an XLT can have just about .Brand new and showroom clean. There are good deals out there you just gotta look for awhile

Hey man, waaaaaay too many miles for the price. I got my '04 Lariat Screw 4X4 LOADED for 24K with 16K miles and a year of warranty left last November. Spray in bed liner, sunroof, tonneau cover, everything 'cept the navigation that I would like. Keep looking. End of month and end of model year. You can do better.
