Question on 2 wheel drive S-Crews

As I think on how many times I have ever used/turned on my 4 wheel drive in a year I can probably count it all on one hand.

Which makes me wonder if the next Ford super crew I might purchase will include the 4x4. My only issue with the 2 wheel drive model is I don’t like the stance of those trucks and how much lower they sit when compared to the 4x4.

Is it just my mind playing tricks on me with the ride heights between the two? Is there a way to modify a 2 wheel drive (such as a lift kit) to give it the "stance" to make it look more like a 4x4?

Thanks.

The 2wd F-150's from 97-07 ride about 3" lower than 4wd trucks. On the 2004+ trucks, a small levelling kit for the front and blocks under the leaf spring would work. Or, there are 6" lift kits to be taller than stock 2wd trucks. Both solutions would be much cheaper than 4wd, but keep in mind you'll want larger tires as stock 2wd tires are in the 29-30" range vs. many 4x4's with 33-35" tires (not stock).

Exactly the reason I saved the $3K and used it on mods, I just wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost.

Here's a couple pictures of my 2WD. Many of us 2WD owners have lifted our trucks and they look just as good as most lifted 4WD trucks. Everyone thinks it's a 4WD and are suprised when I tell them it's really a 2WD.

It's not really higher in the rear as it appears in the picture, it's just sitting on a slant in my driveway.

I forgot to mention one thing about resale. In my region, 4wd is about a zero cost option. Lease rates are generally cheaper for 4wd than 2wd trucks. A 5-8 year old 4x4 iw worth about 3k more than a similar aged 2wd. So even if you don't think you use it often, it still has market value to a lot of people in norther states.

Yeah.. That was one of my major concerns. I live in Iowa so during the winter months is when I would primarily do need use it. Then again it maybe only once and a while. I admit it is nice to have it there and use it as a "security blanket".

BTW that is a sweet truck. Great pics. Nice to see you can give that 4x4 look to a 2 wheel drive truck.

I installed a 2" leveling kit and some 33s. To me, it sits like a stock 4x4. Looks 100% better, too.

Of course, mine's ot a supercrew, but it is 2WD.
