If you have a question if you need one or not, then you probably do need one. They are not very expensive (probably cheaper than 1 load of whatever you are carring) and are well worth the piece of mind. Alot of members have used this company and their phone number is there so they can give you some expert advice.

Definitely call KCAutosound and order the CA 670 alarm with remote start; I installed mine a few weeks ago and am very happy with the system. Travis is a great person to do business with.
As far as the alarm that comes with hte truck; I wouldn't rely on it at all. I procrastinated and had my rig broken into twicw in 19 months.

Your best bet is going to be calling Travis at kcautosound. He'll explain everything you want/need to know. He'll even walk you through your installation. Great guy.

I just had a CompuStar with remote start put in mine yesterday and so far I am very happy with it. Still a few things the install shop needs to check on, but it seems like a very good alarm. It's not that I carry alot of high value items in my truck, it's just a good investment for our trucks. For you though who admits to carrying alot of stuff in your truck it would be an even wiser investment and if you have any kind of aftermarket sound system then it is a definite must.

Travis seems to get a lot of praise on the site and if there was anyone locally that could have installed the CA670 that's the one I probably would have gone with. Like I said though, I am very happy with the CompuStar alarm so far.

The keyless entry still functions with the CA 670. You are given two keyless fobs' that you program. The system is quite easy to install and use. I believe the whole system was under $300.00; I spent about 7 to 8 hours with the install. I took my time since there are a lot of wires to locate and splice.

I work in law enforcement and I take tons of stolen vehicle reports with vehicles equipped with alarms . Most thieves that are going to steal that line of vehicle, know how to get around an alarm. You need to look into and see if where you live if the local law enforcement has the LOJAC locaters installed in their patrol vehicles. LOJAC has a 90% recovery rate. Depending on where you live, LOJAC might be a good bet. Like on the East coast of FL, most of the cities and county law enforcement have them in their cars. I have seen the system work. I took a stolen vehicle report and before I was done with the report a county more than 50 miles away had located the vehicle . F150's are on the top 10 most stolen vehicle in the U.S. now.
