I have a 2003 f150 and I would like to know if there is a special way to get the up stream side of the filter out of the connection, is there a special tool I need to get ?

You'll need a fuel line disconnect tool available at any parts store. The fuel filter connects to the fuel line with quick connects. Don't buy a really cheap one or you'll get pissed and throw it across the yard(I did anyway). Hope this helps

You can get a kit of all 8 hose removal tools at Autozone (or any other parts store) for about $10. I bought a set of the cheap plastic ones about 8 years ago and they still work just fine. The set I have is color coded with an application chart on back... the blue one is for the fuel filter, but I found the output side of the filter is easier to take off with the next size up (gray).
