2 or 4 wheel ABS how to know
I have a 2002 F150 s/crew SOHC, 8 Cylinder, 4.6L, Fuel Injection, "W" Vin — 1/2 Ton, 4WD, 5 Lug Wheel. How do I find out if I have 2 wheel or 4 wheel ABS. I need to replace a front wheel hub assembly and they are differant for each model.
4-wheel ABS went standard during the 1999 model year for XLT trim lines and higher.
It was either during 2000 or 2001 that ALL F-150s got 4-wheel ABS.
Since you have a 2002, I'm gonna have to agree with Brian.
Ford got caught flat footed on the optional ABS in 1999.
Chevy campaigned hard about their standard 4-ABS.
Ford started to feel the pinch and did a mid-year model change around January 1999.
My truck was built in March.
(Thanks, Chevy!

Look at the front brake lines.
You will see a second line with the sensor wire in it that does not go to the caliper but to a front upper location in the backing plate where the sensor is located. This is the 4 wheel version.
