Need help on a used F150 purchase from the dealer. 2 trucks to choose from

I'm looking at the following trucks at a local dealer and need help deciding:

2004 F150 Supercrew
5.4
XLT
Towing Package
Sliding rear window
running boards
4x4
Bedliner
33,000 miles

For $20,303 Whats everyone think of the price? I've looked for quite a bit online and locally and this is the lowest I have found. (Dealer had it listed for $24,999) I talked them down to $20,303.

------------------------or------------------------
Also looking at this truck,
2006 F150 Supercrew
5.4
Lariat
Towing Package
4x4
Bedliner
46,000

$22,989 (firm)

The lariat has some very ugly chrome trim the previous owner put on top of the bed rails, around the wheel wells and lower portion of the doors.
Truck is acutally showing a couple (small) spots of rust where there are nicks in the paint.

To be honest I like the 04 XLT better. BUT I feel like Im getting "more for my money" with the 06 Lariat as its aprox. $2600 more than the 04 XLT

What I've read here on this site the 04 had some things wrong with them when they 1st came out, maybe that's why it's on the lot.

I would go with the 2006. Even though it has high mileage. Too many issues with the 04 models.

I wouldn't be too worried about the 2004 if it looks pretty clean. You have a few thousand miles left on that std. warranty, although that will go pretty fast. See if they will through in an extended power train warranty on the 04 or something....

What do you think about the price?
$20,303 (firm) for the 04 XLT

Just my $.02 worth, but with the huge used truck market that is available right now I believe that this one is about $2,000.00 to $2,500.00 to high.
Especially for an XLT. I have seen several in the $14,500 to $17,000 range lately that were low mileage and very clean.. keep looking...

yah 20k is alot for a used truck in the shape either are in. Allthough if i had to pick from the two, i would probably get the 06, b.c with mileage like that, it was probably on the highway a bunch, so there shouldnt be that much abuse on the truck.

not that im doubting you but, can you provide some examples?
links to dealer websites?
want-ads?

I have never seen an 04 supercrew xlt with 4x4, towing package, under factory warranty etc, etc go anywhere under $20,000

Use KBB.com or Edmunds to get the private party values of both trucks. With the info you provided, the 2004 looks like a fair price, but the 2006 is overpriced, especially wince it is in worse condition.

What is your budget? I'd think you can get a new 2007 model for $10k off MSRP which could be in the $25-28k range for a nice XLT.

That 2004 model likely has no warranty left based on time it was purchased.

I posted my deal in another thread a while back, but I got my 2006 F-150 FX4 Supercrew w/ tow package etc on the 1st of January for $26,500. The sticker on it was something like $38,600 or so... If you can find an 06 XLT on a lot near you you could get a smoking deal on it....

Thanks for all the feedback guys, went to another ford dealer in town checking out trucks, looking at supercrews again.

They showed me an 05 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab Z71 and I did end up buying it. I never thought to even consider it until I drove it for the hell of it. Very nice truck!
Little bit lower and more sportier than the f150. Leather, 4wheel drive, 5.7v8, 26,000 miles, towing package, heated seats, etc, etc, etc. Very similar (if not better features) than a Lariat

Walked out of there just over $20k

Congrats on your new to you truck but I didn't think chevy was using the 5.7 in their trucks anymore? You might want to take a second look to see what engine you have. I think they use a 4.7L or a 4.8L and a 5.3L. Post a picture so we can see it
