I get a check engine light about every 60K miles and down load code P0401 Low EGR Flow. Takes me about 90 minutes to remove the in-take elbo and clean the EGR ports and replace the DPFE sensor. Other than brake pads, shocks, hoses & battery... the truck is pretty much all original. The '97 was the first year of the "new" F-150 style, and while some guys won't buy first year production trucks, I can't complain. Ford builds 'em tough.

Welcome to the site and congrats on your new truck. Be careful around here though, there's a terrible mod bug going around and it seems everyone is catching it.

Yeah I have been saving up for almost a year now so I can get some serious mods done. Only have to save a little more and I will be there. I figure by March I will have all I need and can get some things done. Hard to wait, but I have managed to do so far.
