Help choosing a supercrew.

I have decided to trade my 2wd f150 in for a 4wd supercrew. I'm looking for a 2001 to 2003 model. What would be the best of those years? Best engine, etc? It will be a daily driver pretty much, with not too much wheeling. Moving to Colorado at the end of the year and just want a good 4wd for the weather conditions out there. Thanks.

Coming from any 2wd F-150, I think you'd be disappointed without the 5.4L. Going from LV to 5000+ feet will zap power as well. I'd look for a 2002 or 2003 model. 2001 has three generations and had some minor issues. If looking at Lariat models, the 2002 & 03 added auto climate comtrol that owners really like. Otherwise, you have an F-150 of same body style. The Supercrew is not much different - it's a solid truck.

I agree, I have the 1st model Supercrew & dislike its seating comfort strongly ( annoying built in fold out arm rests... ) a Lariat is the best of the 4x4s, and the 5.4L for its great towing capacity, and its toughness. I've been searching for my dream black Supercrew for quite awhile now, if only the prices on most of them went down

I've had a 2001 4x4 Screw with the 5.4 and it was great. Got totalled - otherwise I'd still have it. Got good mpg for what it was and never has an issue but one. Had a leaky rear end. Cost me $100 to fix and that was the only "repair" I ever had on it. Just changs the fluids.... Pulled an 8K pound trailer about 2K miles and did it well!
