Annoying locks
Annoying locks
Hi all,
I've got an 07 KR Screw. The locks are somewhat annoying. When you begin driving they lock automatically which is nice. However, whenever we park the truck and turn it off the locks don't unlock automatically. This is usually not a problem for the people in the front seat because those doors unlock themselves when you pull the handle. But people in the backseat need me to unlock the doors to let them out. Also, if we have grocercies back there I have to remember to fully unlock the doors to get to them from the outside. Any way to have the truck unlock automatically when the engine turns off or something?

This has been talked about numerous times. Some claim there 04+ screws unlock when you put it in park and others dont have this feature. I went to the dealer and they said theres nothing they can do to make it unlock. So I had my aftermarket alarm unlock the doors when the truck is turned off.
Well have you tried reading the owners manual? it will explain exactly how to turn off the automatic door locks, both for the 01 screw and the 07 KR.
I turned them off before I left the dealership both in my 03 model and my 06 model.
Don't anyone else give away the "secret" let them find it on their own.

My truck also does this, but, being extended cab, I don't have the back door problem. I assume the only way to solve your problem is to disable the automatic locking feature altogether.
Just look in your manual, it should be in there.

Mine was also like that, until I did like what has been already said. I had a alarm/remote starter installed and the installer programmed it to lock and unlock with the ignition. I turned off the factory auto lock.

1) Do the above thing ^^^
2) Disable the auto locking altogether
3) Tell the people in the backseat to quit whining and just take 2 seconds to ask you to unlock the doors
Option 1 seems like a lot of effort and money, option 2 takes away one of the nicer features of a quality truck, and option 3 is a little annoying to both you and your passengers.
I guess it's up to you. Sorry I can't be of more help... maybe some more people with '04+ trucks can chime in if they know something.
You know...There is... Option 4... buy an extended cab truck, that way the passengers can't get out at all unless you let them out! Ha! They are all under your control!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a child safety feature? My 03' does the same thing........
I do agree, it's annoying - especially when you park in your garage, get out, leave the keys inside, walk around to the passenger side - only to remember it's locked!

Oh boy.....this thread is to funny....I will tell you...all you have to do is sit in your drivers seat look in front of you to the ..... side .... a button a couple of ..... and that is it, problem solved
idk any 2001+ Frd truck/SUV that doesn't have this feature. I'm used to it though, my '02 2dr Explorer had that ( which is stupid, being 2dr, & pulling the handle the door opens... ) but anymore, when I park shut the truck off, i unlock the doors & get out, then i'm like "wtf i'm by myself...."
