Question Question about Tonneau Covers?

Where can I get a good deal on a nice ARE or LEER Hardtop Cover. I have been looking for one for quite sometime, but I can't seem to get the price under 700 bucks. Is this pretty much the norm or can I get it cheaper? Thanks in advance.

Over $700 is definately the norm for hard covers...

Couple of options that might work: Look for factory seconds at your local tonneau place. I got mine this way, and it was $500 painted. Couple of small ripples but nothing to noticable or affecting the top.

Craigslist.com... I'm always seeing used tonneaus going anywhere from $100 and up.

Hey sorry 02Super, not to steal the thread but..... Toolmaan I love the looks of your truck with the wheels and the side bars. Are those the Harley chrome bars and what wheels do you have on there. I keep seeing the Harley bars and they look slick on the Screws. I am also out to find the best looking wheels I can. Thanks, Sean

I have a snugtop snuglid and couldn't be happier with it. It's flat and has no ugly bulges. Goes with the truck's lines well.

Have you looked at the undercover tonneau. I really like mine i think it was 6 or 650. It comes off easy and hangs on the wall. Very light I think like 53 pounds for the supercrew. www.undercoverinfo.com

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT BUY AN UNDERCOVER!!! THEY CRACK AT THE FRONT HINGE POINTS, I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING WITH THEM TO REPLACE IT AND THEY WONT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT AT ALL!!!, I HAVE PICS TO PROOVE THE CRACKS IF REQUESTED.

If you have the patience as I do, I buy the majority of my truck accessories on Ebay. Just be careful who you buy from and communicate with them.

I purchased a fiberglass tonneau made by Glasstite from Ebay that was only a year old for $300. Drove to the guys house and he and his son installed it for me. Has not leaked yet and we have had a lot of rain here in Jersey lately.

I am very thrifty, or even cheap you might say. I just shop around until I find a good deal. Sometimes it takes months, but I have the patience to do so.

Just my .02.....

Undercover is the best bang for the buck. There have been many posts by people who have had good service from the covers and the company. I have had the Undercover on both my trucks, an 04 scab 6.5' bed and my 06 screw 5.5' bed. I sold the 6.5' cover to my neighbor three doors down and put it on his scab. Now, if there were problems with these covers, do you think I would have sold my used one to my neighbor? Another plus is not having to wax it like you will the painted covers. Just hose it down and it looks like new.

Dealer installed, The rep said the reason it cracked was because apperantly I drive around with it up!! Its just there way of getting out of replacing it at 2 years old. I have never drove around with it up, nor set anything onto it.
