CB noise

Have installed a CB in 05 XLT screw. Have picked up motor noise, and pwr window noise. The noise runs about 4 lbs. on the scale.
The power is taken form a 12 volt accessery plug via a radio shack plug adapter.
Is there a place in the cab to run a ground wire to so that the noise will be less?
The CB is located via velcro on the dash above the radio and no the radio isn't on when using the CB.
Has anyone else had this or a similar problem?
Any advice would be appreciated.
There is no CB shop where I live.
:santa:

I was thinking that the 12 volt accessery plug was not providing a good ground.
I have to turn the squelch up to tune it out.
I have a brake controller mounted in the truck and when I apply the the brakes without the trailer hooked up I get a high pitched buzzing sound.
I went to the local radio shack about the inline noise suppressor and they didn't know what I was talking about. They said they didn't have any?
Where is a good place to run a ground wire in the cab?

Have you any experince in installing CBs in vehicles?
I want to have a temp setup so that I can take it out when I want to.
I have a mag mount base loaded cobra atenna that is put on the roof of the truck.
I have put a meter on it and have the swr's below 2. 1.3 on ch 1, 1.4 ch 20 and 1.6 ch 40.
Are those good numbers?

Yes those numbers are good
I'm a construction truck driver/foreman so I have some knowledge of C.B.'s. Radio Shack has the noise supressors but so do most truck stops off any major Interstate.
I also have a plug for quick connect..the red and black one, the other is to my sirius plug and play

Thanks for the reply. The adapter plug I have is the other one. It is all black to quick connect slots in the back. It also has a fuse in it.
I guess i'll have to get the radio shack guys to look up in their catalog for the suppressors.

Great pic boomerkj. I only have the compact cobra 19 ultra. It works ok.

The only truck stop around here is about 10 miles away and they don't have anybody there that can work on them. They didn't even have a swr meter.
I guess I'll have to learn all on my own.
Maybe when I'm near a larger city I may be able to get to a cb shop or a larger truck stop.

Your power source is just as important as your ground. To do everything that you can to eliminate any unwanted electrical noise, the best thing to do is run both hot and ground directly from the battery. Putting an inline fuse on you hot wire near the battery. It will take a little bit more work, but it is worth it.

I wired my CB 12v and ground into my radio wires. No problems to date.
