2002 FX4 just purchased

I took the plunge and got back into what I know is the #1 truck out there. I have one concern after driving it last night, so I need everyone elses opinion/expertise.

I noticed that there is a grinding or noise of some sort that is coming from the front end while driving and especially while turning and braking.

It could only be one of 2 things. Brakes and front axles. Does it get louder while braking, maybe a little but more so while turning. Does the front axles have grease fittings that maybe the person who owned it before did not do? Has anyone else experienced this during their ownership?

Email direct is stephendudra@yahoo.com.

PS> Would putting a chip in this thing get me better gas mileage? Of course I would need to buy better gas and the performance might make me burn more gas, but it still is just a question.

Could be front wheel bearings. I had to put them in 2 of my F150s with around 70,000 miles on each one.
