off road
off road
Anybody take their screw off roading? Just picked up my 07' 2 weeks ago and ready to see what it can handle. Going to hit some trails tomorrow and just wondering how these are off road.

i would say it depends on your definition of off-road...i take mine out on the ranch and camping semi-regularly, and that is dirt/rock trails and inclines...but i wouldn't try to use a crew cab for rock crawling or rubicon just because of the size and weight...
i need 4 wheel drive primarily to keep me from getting stuck getting to our cabin in mountains in the winter, on a wet dirt road, and to get me to places when hunting and camping...i don't really play with it and i definitely don't seek out mud...for what i do, the stock crew cab performs very well

I take mine mudding very often. There isnt much to do other than go offroading. Mine does great. The only problem I had stock was the tires. I put on some BFG Mud Terrains and it was amazing!!! It will go through mud, sand, hill climbs, and anything else you throw at it (I never tried rock crawling because I live in Florida and there isnt much of that). Dont get me wrong, I have gotten it stuck a few times but I knew I was getting stuck before I even went into those holes. Congrats on the purchase by the way, your going to love it.

Biggest problem I have had is the maneuverability issue. In four wheel drive it is nearly impossible to make tight turns. And is seems to take a 40 acre field to turn around when at the end of the trail.

Well the truck did alright. Just had some clearence problems going into creek crossings. Figure when I put on the AS 2.5 and my35's it should help alot. the maneuverability also was a pain.
Tight turns definitely aren't going to happen! BTW, I found out a few weeks ago the value of the factory skid plates! I drove of a small ledge, and scraped the edge of it off with my gas tanks skid plate. It it was just grass and dirt, I probably wouldn't have gone for it.
