new truck :)

Okay so I've been driving a 92 ranger 3.0 v6 for the past 4 years, and it didn't have a/c, power anything...I mean just nothing nice. and it's Houston..I was always sweating. so my mom's fiancee bought me a new truck.

in the days coming to pick it up, I was reading reviews on it, as I was excited. seems like everyone loves theirs.

this thing has a digital compass/thermometer, power everything, tachometer...just lots of simple things that seem like no big deal, but to me they're huge.

anyways, I freaking LOVE this thing. it drives SO nice. and I remember reading a few reviews that said the 4.6 was weak? I floored it for the first time today on montrose, already going 40, and the back end broke loose and threw me back. hardly weak, especially compared to what I've been driving.

anyhow, I'm excited. hell of a truck. love the gadgets. I've never had a working gas gauge before. It's nice to not have to guess. and the gas mileage is great. I drove it back from Austin to Houston, stopping in conroe inbetween (4 1/2 hour drive) and only used 1/2 a tank. MUCH better mileage than my ranger. just damn.

thanks guys

I was gonna ask if there were any problems common to these trucks. I was told that the EGR's usually went out around 60k. I'm confident that it will last a long while, just wanting to know in advance if there's something I will likely be replacing.

My 03 had approx 34,000 miles on it when I purchased it in Aug of 04. I'm close to 69,000 now and so far.....no problems. As far as the EGR problem, sometimes it's the DPFE sensor rather than the EGR valve. Could also be hoses to/from EGR, DPFE, etc.
