What's It Worth...testing the water??

Thinking about selling the truck and wanted to test the waters and see what she's worth. Got all the mods listed below except for Nitto Terra Grappler tires now. 325/70 16's. 55,000 miles and meticulously maintained. Complete tune up last week. New plugs and all 8 (yes all eight) coils replaced. No spark plug thread damage on any cyl. New brakes last week as well. KBB retail is around $21 and some change last I checked. I was thinking $27 neighborhood. Absolutely no less than $25. What do you guys think?? Is closer to $30k a pipe dream??

sadly yes, 30k is too much, there just isnt a big market for our used trucks ever since the ford family/employee pricing scheme. You can get a stock new screw almost fully loaded for like 28k out the door with all taxes etc included.... Im not telling you how to price your truck, but you might start at 25k and maybe get talked down to 23,500.

I tried to sell my 03 w/ 33,000 on it this summer for 17k and i had one guy interested, but he never got back to me. No buyers interested means i dont sell... Also my KB was at like 18,200 and another pricing thing was like 19,400. I was selling as is, or returned to stock... for 16k

And i took it to carmax and they lowballed, i mean offered 11k for it as is. I mostly was docked on my modded interior and modded suspension

Best of luck on your sale

I don't see you even getting 20, no offense. You have a great looking crew but most aren't looking for a moded out truck. Now if she's included the price just went through the roof.

Sorry man, i expect it will be hard to get $17k for it. The best offer I've had from anyone on mine is\was 18K. Good Luck.

Nice truck! I viewed your gallery... However I just traded my 01 Supercrew 4X4 with 22355 miles, with leather interior and completely stock except for plus 2 size tires... The dealership said trade in (which is wholesale value)was around 14-15K. I was floored. I ran an add in the paper asking 17K and NO ONE called. I ended up trading it and was given(16200) on paperwork. What a beating... However with incentives my new 06 listed @ 43000 and FOMOCO was allowing the employee discounts @ the time(-10000) I was offered the truck for 33000 and with my X-plan(disabled Veteran, repeat buyer, and I took the cash instead of gas) I paid 28800 for my Lariat Supercrew chrome edition 4X4. I just can not imagine you getting anywhere near 25K for your 01. I hope it works for you but FORD really "Bottomed out" the trade in value with the employee discount sale... BoB

Well, what a day...Tried buying a new truck today and wanted to see where we're at. I know how the game goes but it started out with him offering me $14k and change for my truck. Yea right!! But, the thing that really set me off more than that was the fat lazy SOB didn't even go outside and look at my truck. No interest in what was on it what so ever. I've never had this insulting of a buying experience ever. Oh well.

I paid $28k for my $38k MSRP 2003 Screw new. Mods rarely add value to any vehicle. In fact, often takes away from value. 2001 Screw would be lucky to get $14k for your 5 year old truck.

I just paid 18K Canadian for my 03 screw. 111,000 km on it. I'm going to run it until it falls apart.

I looked in my little dealer's book, and your truck is only worth $11,750 on trade-in. I'd have to use the commercial KBB to get it up to $14,175.

You probably just learned a valuable lesson, one many of the "Fast & Furious" crowd learn all too well. To a dealer, a bank and your insurance company... all those mods don't add a nickel to the value of your truck. And, unless the mods were done by someone with a BIG name in the business, they actually deter from the resale value. No offense, but you may have REALLY wanted to show off the truck and all the mods to the salesman to try to drum up a bigger trade-in value, but he doesn't give a hoot what it looks like. It's just another used 2002 SCrew, nothing more.

Well, guess patience is a virtue...So I walked out on the truck I was looking at with the $14k trake in offer. Next day I get a phone call...Sticker price on the truck I was looking at was $49k and change...factory sticker, no dealer mark up, BS, or additions. Says he'll take my truck and $24k OTD!!! I'd have to say that's a pretty dang good deal, yea???

so basically your 14k truck plus 24k cash = 38k on a 49k supposedly. The dealer probably paid about 35 for the truck and 3k is still enough profit for them, Btw im just guessing how much the dealer actually got it for. When i bought my truck new (near end of 03) sticker was 32,500-33,500 and i paid 23,000. I really need to find my window sticker off my truck

But yah not a bad deal, but not the best either..

You got $11k off a new truck. That's not bad at all, especially if it is an 07 model. BTW, what kind of new truck did you get? A Superduty?

Like i said i think i got about 9-9.5k off my sticker price, but dont remember for sure what sticker was. And it is an 06 so its quickly nearing the end of its "new" year model, since the 07s are rolling out fast.
And when you trade a vechicle in you have to remember that they are gonna turn a profit on the trade in too! So its really like this
49sticker = 38k "smokin" deal
38-14k truck
you are left with 24k cash like i stated before.

But lets say they turn around and sell your truck at a local auction for 15.5k
then they just made another 1.5k so you deal goes from 38k to 39.5 almost 40k. So then you end up with the dealer only taking 9k off sticker. which is what i got. and what alot of ppl are getting. So its just an average deal.

The best deal you can make is going to be returning your truck as close to stock as possible, then sell the aftermarket parts, then sell your truck for 14.5-15k
