How much are you paying for your crew?
Start out by going to www.ford.com, and dong a build on the truck you are looking at. You can check invoice pricing there vs. KBB or Edmunds.
I threw together an example build on a XLT.
XLT
4X4
5.4 FFV
6.5' box
fog lamps
tow package
3.73 Limited
List price :
35,200.00
Ford claimed Invoice price : 32,314.00
If you start pricing the different trim levels, you might find a different trim level has everything and then some you are looking for in a truck, for a lower price. I know when I went to order my '06, it was cheaper for me to get a Lariat then another XLT. Between '01 and '06, loading up a XLT got more expensive.
The Dodge : Last years model, and a huge truck. Do you need something that big ( think 6 tires every change ) It might eb a case of they have it, noone has wanted that specific trim level, and options, so it sits. The dealer can't give that to an employee as his paycheck, so they drop the price on it. Take a slightly off seller F-150 in your area, and check for '06s You might find one heck of a deal on one, if you don't care about color ( comparison of Order a 07 to buying a left over '06 is not exactly equal ).
The Chevy : Trim level on the fully loaded truck, and you called it an Extended Cab, where you are trying to price a SuperCrew cab truck ( guess that is what you mean by Crew Cab, even though that is not a cab option from Ford ). If you price delta SuperCrew to SuperCab, you will find a bit of a price delta between the 2.
Figure out if you want a list of items, or if you can settle for something that is a V-8, 4x4 and fog lamps, where everything else is 2nd place ( cab type, etc ). Try a few pricing options, and you might be shocked.

I bought my '05 Lariat SuperCrew this past June w/16k miles on it. Mine is a Regency Conversion w/original sticker of $43.4k---original owner paid $38.k on the Ford Family deal (all the original paperwork was in the truck & I talked to the original owner's brother about the truck)------ I paid $25.5k for the truck & was happy to do it-----note runs $475 for 60 months. Know your credit score so you can get the best APR possible, know a ball park of what you want to pay & what you want your note to be. I personally look for one w/a few miles on them-----let the first owner take the hit----you lose about $5k when you drive it off the lot, another $5k a about 10k-15k miles, etc.....
Canadian Price
Seems like we alwaays get betten up on prices up here. - Purchased a new 2006 FX4 s'crew in August for 39275 $CDN. That translates into about 34500 $US . Better deals south of me!
Non the less I'm still happy with the FX4, traded in a -o1 lairat on it.

06 Supercrew FX4 5.4L 3:73 bought new in July. Sticker price was 37,xxx and talked them down to $31,xxx. After the extended warranty, trade in, and tax it came to around 37,xxx. Payments are $550 x 6 years.
I think I did o.k.

I've been hunting on craigs list like crazy for used trucks this past month. I picked up an 2003, Black, 4x4, XLT, Fx4 for $14,500 with 45k miles on it just last night.
I think I did pretty darn well in my 1 month of hunting

I think my deal was also good but they got me on interest 9%. So a week later I refinanced it with my credit union 5.5%. I have perfect credit. I guess it's there way of manipulating the numbers.

IL in Cook County ( Chicago and some of the subs ) is 9% added to the bill.
Does TX still have 0% sales tax on Trucks ?

That really sucked to. It took them 3 hours to get my truck from there other lot. and 5 hours to shop and neg. the deal.
I bought my New 2006 SuperCrew in July. 4.6, XLT, Running Boards, Premium Cloth Interior, Alum 17" Wheels with Mich. Tires, 2-tone paint, 6-Disc MP3 Player, etc. $20,500 out-the-door. The truck had a $32000 window sticker. Made the deal and bought it through the Dealer's Internet Sales Dept. Lone Star Ford in Houston Texas. Had to fly in from San Antonio to pick it up, but drove it home. There were no surprises or pressure when I got to Houston to close the deal...
Buying new vehicles is all about timing. The best time to buy is when a new model year is about to be released... especially if dealers are having a hard time getting rid of their inventory.
I was originally negotiating to buy an '06 Supercrew 4.6L, but I just wasn't happy with the sluggish motor. The dealer had a million of them left in stock and was practically giving them away because the '07 models were on their way. Also, with gas prices the way they were in July, no one was buying gas guzzlers. Trucks with sticker prices of $30k were selling for around $20k. It was hard to give up the extra rebates on the 4.6L... but it was well worth it in the end. I wound with my beautiful '06 Silver SuperCrew 5.4L XLT (with 17" Aluminum Wheels, Michelins, power seats, 6-Disc Changer). I searched the city for the perfect truck and then I starting negotiating the perfect deal. My truck had a sticker price of a little over $32k and I wound up walking out the door at a little over $26k including TT&L.
No matter what... never settle for sticker price. NO ONE pays MSRP.
Good Luck!

'04 Lariat
Buy used. Look around a little and let the last guy take the hit. Just bought an '04 Lariat 4x4. Loaded; leather, heated seats, power everything including the rear window and sunroof. I'm not sure there is anything else that could've come from the factory. Stuff I would always have WANTED, but NEVER would've ordered. 16.5K miles and $24K with a year still on the warranty. You can always try the other manufacturers, but we've owned 3 GM's and they just don't cut it. I've liked them but I tired of 'too-soon' sloppy suspensions, the never ending check-engine light ( should just change that to the 'send $300+ to the dealer' light), numerous fluid leaks, and the horrible side mount batteries. Anyways, have a '97 XLT 4.6L supercab for sale now.
