first road trip with the new truck to pinks

So yesterday me and a couple of buddies loaded up to head down to Seattle Int Raceway, to see the guys from killer customs (www.killercutoms.ca) put there 69 Camaro on the line, and hell ya the canadians came home with a new car it went five races and was insanly close, given that the other guys showed up with a turbo charged engine on NOS in what was supposed to be a engine only race, so after the Nos was unhooked and some good negotiating the better car won, check out the pinks episode in March i think, start of next season. any way what is the best MPG you guys get on a road trip, the best i got so far with the new truck (5.4) is 16 mpg

I just got back from a 500 mile round trip to the beach.
Going down plus some running around North Myrtle, computer said 17.8, calculator said 18.75.
Coming back computer is showing 18.8 Trip back was 50/50 60 MPH and 75MPH.

iv got to admit it had been about 6 years since i had been to the track, just hadent been back since i sold my dakota (1/4 mile in 12 flat in a 92 dakota) and now im trying to justify buying a mustang to the wife and get back into racing again. The way i see it we are saving money iv already got a truck to pull the trailer to get out there, so thats one less thing to have to buy......

On straight highway driving doing 75mph I get around 19 mpg. I did a test once on a trip to Millingotn, TN (425 mile trip for me). On the way up I drove with the AC on all the way, on the way back I drove with the AC off (rolled down thw windows). My mileage was the pretty much the same both ways so that blew my thinking about using the AC eating up more gas.
