Trading 02 Screw for 04 or Newer Screw?
Trading 02 Screw for 04 or Newer Screw?
With the recent challenges Ford is facing, I'm thinking there might be a good opportunity in the near future to trade up a few years. My question is, can you get 04 or newer Screws with all the same options as my 02, particularly leather interior with a bench seat in front rather than the console shifter and captains chairs? I've also seen the newer Screws listed as 5.5 or 6.5 foot bed. What year(s) have both options and would the longer bed exclude any of the other options I'm looking for? Guess I could stop by a dealer, but would like to know more before I do. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Here's the short list of some options on my current truck I would want to match:
Lariat 4X4 w/5.4L
Moonroof
Leather
Front bench seat
FX4 package
Tow package
LS (forgot the axle ratio)

Get the newest Supercrew truck you can with the Lariat pkg you can afford, start with 2006s, if nothing good enough or cheap enough try an '05, If I could I would get and '05 or '06 because I love the newer looks, and could use a newer Supercrew
I may be totally wrong, but I don't think you can get the Larait with a bench seat. If that is true, then it would have to be a special order XLT to have a leather bench seat. Regardless, I think a 2004 up bench seat with leather will be few and far between. Again, I may be worng and if so I apologize.

Even for 2007, the F-150 Lariat comes standard with front bench seat. See Ford's info. No other OEM leather bench in any other trim. It just may be hard to find one as most people prefer captain chairs. 6.5' bed Screw is only availible starting in the 2006 model year.
Everything availible in 2002 (and a whole lot more) is availible for 2004+ model years. That is, except for the FX4 package is now a trim level. FX4 used to be a stand alone package with certain (overrated) equipment . Now, it's more a styling difference. Every 4x4 F-150 is just as capable as the next if you get the skid plates and LSD. Has been since at least 1997, and still is in 2007. Trim level and option packages have little to do with how it performs off road.

Thanks for the help
I appreciate the feedback. Although I really like the looks of the captain chairs and center console, I sometimes need that extra seat the bench provides and I'm sold on leather seats. I'll do some more looking around.

You could always come down to West Texas, we always have a few flock's of steer's running down the road. Tag one of those puppies and it should cover the seat plus you'll have steaks for the year then trade in whats left of the truck minus the seat......................... OK maybe not
