What can rattle/vibrate in a headliner?

I have an '03 Screw with a rattle/vibration in the headliner. Its driving me nuts!! It seems to be coming from the dome light area. I have popped the cover off of that but don't see anything I can tighten or readjust. While drivng I can put my hand on the headliner just about anywhere and it will stop it. I have no idea what it is up there that can cause this. Any ideas? Everytime I have the oil changed I tell the dealer about it. A couple of times they said they couldn't hear it and last time they said the noise was caused by my topper? Huh??!! Anyway, I am just wondering what actually might be up there to rattle and can I do anything about it.
Thanks for reading.

You have an Indian up their.
I had this problem on my 05 and my dealer put shimes in the headliner to stop it. It worked until the sunroof broke and they replaced the hole assembly including the headliner. No more Indians in mine.
I had a lot of problems with the 02 F150 as well. But I think both of my problems were sunroof related.

Do you have an over head console? with the temp and two fold down doors?
The doors them selves can ratlle or the whole bottom peice can rattle from the black mounting braket its on.

you could try tighting the screw in the very front of the console above the mirror, gently check your third brake light tightness, and check to see if the dome light can be tightened somehow, ive never messed with the dome light tho..

Dee,
A small piece of foam strategically placed may cure the rattle.

I had the exact same problem and fixed it. It seems like it was the glue holding the headliner in place. Every time the truck hit a small bump the sound or rattle was actually the glue sticking and unsticking .

I fixed it by taking out the dome light and sliding a wooden paint stirrer about 12 inches long in there to keep the headliner from directly touching the roof where it was sticking.

NO problems since
