SOS Help Steering VIBRATION

Just looking for someone who' been lucky to get steering vibrations problem fixed on their Lariet or Mark LT.

I have 2006 Mark LT and this truck has vibration in steering when driving above 50mph. the vibration gets pretty bad when driving on the highway the vibration seems to coming from the front end and gets transmitted thru steering. I have taken the truck back to the dealership about 6 times and they have tried bunch of things from balancing tired numerous times to replacing front two tires. Just few weeks ago they replaced drive shaft, trans mounts and dampner for steering , but that didn;t do anything and vibration is till the same.

I also found some info somone had posted on one of the forums to get the front wheels indexed got that done but still no help.

Now the dealership tells me thay cant do anything further, so i ended up calling Lincoln and after Lincoln to dealship and called me back and told me that this how this truck is suppose to drive.

I am just hoping i can get some help about this problem becuz i am quiet sure that there are many owners with this problem but hopefully somone was able to get this issue resolved.

Thanks.[/B]

That is BS that the dealership says they can't do anything more. Time to start discussing "lemon law" with them. Also, get the number of the district rep for your area and get them involved. Don't let the dealer push you around - either they fix it or they give you a new truck.

is the vibration speed related?

I had the same issue on my '93 F150, and it ended up being a bad harmonic balancer.

also .. if possible .. swap wheels and tires with a friend .. see if that fixes it .. could be a wheel out of round..

I have the same issue on my new Lariat. But it happens over 70 mph. I've got no solutions for you and I've run through all of the options that you've mentioned.

Go over to the 2004 2006 f150 forum and search steering nibble. Tons of info.

I had the same problem they road force balanced my tires and it helped but sometimes it still shakes back and forth.

You might need to try a different dealer. This is not normal for a 40,000 dollar new truck to drive. Good luck

Had the same problems with my 02 SCREW and ended up having the tires balanced again. Apparently I lost a part of a wheel weight. Cleared everything up. Just throwing in my 2 cents. Hope it helps!

I have had the same problem verbatem.I have had the tires balanced 3 times and rotated .Finally went to another dealer in town and they had a road force balancer that someone in this forum mentioned the last for numbers of the model are 9700.this dealer had one and they rebalanced my tires and its not perfect but better than ever. Also its a sometimes thing with these Pirelli 20s, one day smooth the next wobble shimmy and shake.I think Ford needs a recall on these tires. If you can find the exact model number for this balancing machine you could call around your town to any tire shop that has one its Ford exclusive.Good luck and us informed

Hey MemLT-1 thanks for your advise will try it. i have driven trucks both with 18" bf goodrich and 20" wheel and they trucks have vibration i dont think it' the tires. any ways im going to different dealership next week hopefully will get this resolved.

I was also thinking since there are so many of us with this problem regardless of f150 or mark lt.....maybe it' about time to write and letter to ford on behave of everybody becuz i have a feeling we will get a better response from them than calling one by one. Unless somone already has done that ...im not sure just a thought.

I think the name of the road force balancer is Hunter 9700 series.

I think the problem is with the steering arm. I just can't see this many tires being bad. I'm like memLt1, after the road force balance sometimes I get in and it is smooth as glass. Take another trip bam wooble, nibble around 50 or 60mph. I've come to conclusion to live with it. Its said, but I just don't have the time to sit at a dealer for this problem. Keep us updated.
