Rear window rattle (going crazy)

I am not to sure what is causing this so i figured i would ask and see if anyone else has had it. I have a 04 supercrew with the power sliding rear glass. Whenever i go over bumps or down a dirt driveway for example you can hear it. It almost sounds like the leather seats rubbing something or possibly something in the track. So if any of you have had this problem what did you do to fix it?

This might not help, but do you have the power moon? If you do its probably that and there is a TSB out for it. It sounds like it is coming from the rear but you can test it by holding your head linner while going over a rough road. If you don't have the power moon roof, I have no clue. Good luck.

Yea i have a moonroof and i already had it in for that like the first week i bought the truck (good to see they finally did somethign about it). But this is definately comin from the rear. It is annoying as hell. You know this is like the 3 f-150 I have had in the last 4 years. And i have had the most problems with this one. First the headliner rattles, then the rear window starts rattling, then rear axle seal starts leaking, and now to make it worse the left side speakers will fade in and out periodically. I know none of these things are major setbacks but they add up to one big annoyance.

I'm pretty sure there is a TSB on problems with the rear window(rattling). I have a problem with my rear window opening slow when it's cold outside, especially the opening of the last couple of inches. I have a 05 and I think they assembled it with to much padding to stop the rattling problem from your year. The only rattle I had with mine was also from the headliner. Which was pretty bad until it got fixed. When the weather here gets cold again I'll take it in to show the dealer. They can't fix it if they can't duplicate that's what they tell me. My favorite dealer saying "We never heard of this problem before"

Same kind of problem with my '05 Screw, only difference is my back window will not open at all. I've had the rattle in the headliner, sounds like a wire bundle bouncing around when you are on rough roads. Dealer thought it was the back seat. I'll have to check back on the TSB. It does have a moon roof...

I had the same problem

but my 04 without power slider was out of warranty...the problem I had was the outer seal rubbing against the truck itself and it rattled like a mother. Whenever it would rain, it wouldn't rattle so I had my wife drive and I opened the rear window and applied pressure to the seal. With a little pressure applied, the rattle stopped. I just shimmed a very thin piece of plastic (cut a 6" x 1" piece off a plastic license plate) under the seal and the rattle went away completely. If your truck is out of warranty, it may be worth a shot if you can verify it is the outer seal.

I have an 04 SuperCrew also. Although I do not have the power sliding rear window I had the same problem and it also leaked when it rained or I went to the car wash. I took it in and they replaced the window under warranty. No more squeak and no more leak.

Question TSB Info

Where did you get that TSB info? I would like to show my dealer because they do not believe there is a rattle.

Well yes I can say I did for the last year with my 2005, I thought it was my tool box beign loose, turns out that rattle came from the sliding back window.
now its quite, but the dash makes alot of sqeeks rubbing against the frame.
Dealer say if they try to fix it most likly it will get worse. go figure!

Hello,
Does this still apply to the '05 models? I have a couple things to mention at my next oil change and I do have the rear window rattle.

Thanks.

I don't think so. If it's still underwarranty they should still fix it.
